Didn't players used to use lead tape to add weight to their bats? Is this just the next stage in the "taping" scandal?

Hampshire have come absolutely flying out of the gate, 72 off the 6 PP overs without losing a wicket. Spin on now, bit of adjusting to do, stroke-playing died down thus far.

Thought Carbs was gonna miss out then, ecstatic he squeezed through at the end. Shame we couldn't really make it a near-impossible chase and got a little bogged down towards the end, but great total regardless.

****ing hell I missed all of the game except the last 3 balls! I knew that Hants had posted a huge score and assumed they would go through. Fair play to Lancs, they gave it a hell of a go.

Phew!...what a game, whoever said that cricket is boring?, they should've been at the Ageas tonight...that was as tense, exciting and just sheer entertainment as any football match i've ever been to....Superb knocks from Carbs and Vince, but credit goes to Lancs for making it such a close match.
    Now for final's day, can't wait....:smiley-finger007:

You can't diss Warney on a Hants cricket thread PM, that's sacrilege!....<grr>....:emoticon-0110-tongu

Seriously though, I can remember that Test series vividly, Warney got dog's abuse from the Barmy Army, I recall one such ditty that went, "He's fat, he's bent, his arse is up for rent...Shane Warne, Shane Warne".....He was just giving a bit back.

Actually I enjoyed reading the articles he's written. Australia are on the back foot and Shane just can't seem to accept the fact. You only have to read the headlines of each article to know what he's written in them. Some of the retorts from the readers are amusing too. This, from an Indian reader was the best one I found.

Warnes shane pandit you lecture Pommest Cricketsmen on moral pitches when biggest arrogance is your own self sir . with When u winning cricket match you doing terribles stick dance on balconies showing your fat bottomside looking like a total bloody tool appliances . When you swearing like street urchins at poor Hudsons Andrew . Pandit Warne was appeasing nurses who not want want appeasing . So many examples Pandit Warnes. Pandit Warnes Bloody big fat hypocrite . Shane warne go home . Australias whinge hypocrites Down Down .

He hasn't grasped either, that things you said on record aren't forgotten. He contradicts himself continually. I almost feel sorry for him in a way.

Yeah, Indian cricket fans can be highly amusing, I can recall a banner a few years ago from an England tour of India aimed at Boycs who was commentating at the time....

    Bloody
    Obnoxious
    Yorkshireman
    Calls
    Others
    Terrible
    Things

I think he has a point about the way England act in interviews but I think he has the reason wrong. Warne says
I think he's right to an extent except that you need to replace the word "opposition" with the word "media". It seems to me that the current England side are very dismissive of the media and want to have as little to do with them as possible. Whether that attitude is justified or not I don't really know.

    Right on Fran!

I think the England team are in a bubble created by Flower, like the ones Fergie used to use to great effect.
Cook, who quite rightly is England's link to the media, is one of the mildest characters you could ever wish to meet.
I think it's just sour grapes from Warne.

I agree about the bubble. Cook gets interviewed more than the others and is fine with the media. A bit bland but that's what you usually get these days.

They all get interviewed at some point though because at the end of each day England normally send out a player who's done well to do the required interview (although not necessarily if they're still batting). Swann is usually okay. He can be a bit glib sometimes but is usually friendly enough. Trott must be awful to interview though, he usually struggles to conceal his wish to be anywhere else except in a interview.
