'I would love to sign Jermain Defoe' - Harry Redknapp confirms QPR enquiry for Tottenham striker Former Spurs boss insists there is only a 'small chance' of completing deal SIMON JOHNSON Published: 08 August 2013 Updated: 10:05, 08 August 2013 QPR manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed he has made an enquiry for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe but admits he is struggling to bring him to Loftus Road. Spurs are prepared to listen to bids for Defoe, who played under Redknapp at West Ham and Portsmouth, as well as White Hart Lane. Redknapp said: “I’d love to have Jermain. We made an enquiry but at the moment he’s not available. We’re nowhere near anything. There is a small chance of it happening.” The QPR boss is looking to sign another striker after Loic Remy completed a loan move to Newcastle earlier in the week. But he has played down speculation linking him with another move for West Brom’s controversial forward Peter Odemwingie. He is interested in Estudiantes striker Duvan Zapata, but admitted ‘he may be going elsewhere’. Meanwhile, it is understood QPR aim to get rid of Stephane Mbia, Samba Diakite and Anton Ferdinand before the end of the transfer window. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...firms-qpr-enquiry-for-tottenham-striker-87515
If his statement is true, its about time he learn't to keep his gob shut. Doesn't he learn from previous experiences?
he is the bookies favourite to end up at rangers if he leaves, I don't believe he wants to go, but if the price is right and the contract long enough, its very possible
"Defoe will cost QPR £6m" http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo.../Jermain-Defoe-cost-QPR-6m.html#ixzz2bbLJnKYL
No, old and injury prone, where have we heard that before. That would make him the fourth thirty something after TF said we wouldn't sign any more has beens.
No question Defoe would score a lot of goals in the Championship but really not sure we should be contemplating paying £6m for anyone.
Alright Flyer? I see you've still got Johnson on your hit list. After his start to the season I wondered whether you've contemplated removing him?
Really not sure quite like the idea of getting Conor Wickham in although wouldn't score anything like Defoe. The biggest concern would be if don't go up we're saddled with another high earner at a time when the parachute payment drops & potentially put us right in the mire. Wouldn't mind a deal if it was say £3m up front + £3m if get promoted but can't see Levy going for that.
I can't see Levy going for that either. ( Why is he not letting Bale go for that ridiculous sum? He can then get in 4 or 5 top top lads to take them to where they want to be. Strange bloke is Levy. ) Conor Wickham is a great shout, I like him a lot. Rhodes is another.
