There has been a big argument going on about who owns which part of the club. Once again it was split up into different companies and no one, including the FL, seemed to know who actually held the right to play. (The so called golden share.) The council and the charitable trust that own the ground have split now, the trust agreeing to a CVA but the council refusing. The company that were trying to obtain the CVA were part of the same lot that put the club into administration and say that they will build a new ground. Not sure that I believe that one. Meanwhile there is an empty stadium that will be a white elephant for the city and will no doubt cost the council tax payers just to maintain it. I cannot see where the council are going on this as I don't see any aces up their sleeves.

A troubled club at the moment - on and off the field. I think they were expecting more support from other clubs and the FA. I believe they also have a transfer embargo, so although they have a number of new players, none can actually play for them yet!
Regarding Suarez.....can Rodgers really complain about his lack of loyalty and respect. After this is the man who has said twice he has "integrity" before walking out of 2 clubs. I do feel for the Liverpool fans who even as recent as last Saturday gave their hero god like status but have had it thrown in their faces.

As much as I don't like Suarez, I have no symapthy of Rodgers or Liverpool Rodgers cannot talk about respect or loyalty as he is off as soon as a better offer comes along. He did to Swansea what Suarez is doing to Liverpool - wanting to be at a higher level - but at least Suarez is being honest with everyone up front! AS for some of the fans moaning about the 'cheeky' £40m + £1 bid. If Arsenal thought they'd get him with that, then why would you bid any more? As for how Arsenal knew about the (what appears to be non-existent) clause... I probably find it worse that Rodgers used his contract knowledge of triggering Joe Allen's clause last year! I still think Suarez is still hoping Real come in with an offer... but with their pursuit of Bale, they don't seem very interested! No doubt if he does go to Arsenal, he will be looking at the next big move in a season or two anyway!
I also wonder how serious Arsenal are. the word going round at the time of the bid was that it was an effort to force real's hand to buy him and then they'd off load Higuain to Arsenal. I hope for both Liverpool and Suarez that Arsenal now walk away form the deal and they're left with each other and there's nowhere for either of them to go.
So apparently Hull City AFC are now going to be Hull City Tigers, with a view to becoming Hull Tigers at some point in the future for marketing reasons. Seems to have whipped up some consternation among the supporters, although there seems to be a reasonable number not bothered by it. Now the thought of us being Watford Hornets as an official name kind of makes me retch, but is this just the start of things to come as clubs chase marketability by using naming conventions similar to the American style. Rugby and Cricket has already gone this route, is this a genuine reason to get annoyed or just sentimentality and fear of change?
I wonder if any research has been done regarding the 'American style' and whether it makes things more marketable - whilst it may appeal to a younger, wider audience, would it disaffect existing audience members in equal numbers? Personally I find that it puts me right off - and should Watford adopt it, I really don't know what I'd do. When living in Oz, I was a big fan of rugby union - followed the SPC, Super 6, Super 10 - but when it morphed into Super 12 and then Super 15 and introduced the American style naming, it left me cold & I lost interest. Nothing really to do with fear of change or sentimentality - I simply didn't see the need for it and, for me, it spoilt it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.......

A good thing we are the Hornets now and not the Brewers as we were. If you go to the logical end would Brighton be the Seagulls, which is not nice but Gulls is. And not to forget Luton Town would be Luton Scum.
With 92 league teams to find silly names for I imagine they'll run out of obvious ones fairly quickly (Millwall Lions etc). I do like the Scottish Academicals and Mechanics and the English amateur side Norton Woodseats. But, is a name change in itself going to sell more stuff? There surely comes a point where constant changes of names and colours on club products must be subject to the law of diminishing returns.
