Liverpool agree Oussama Assaidi transfer to Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan

Morocco winger had offers from clubs in Holland and Belgium after quiet first year at Anfield but prefers switch to London

Loan Ranger: Assaidi will spend the season helping QPR's bid to return to the top flight
    John Powell
Forgotten Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi is joining Championship promotion hopefuls QPR on a season-long loan.

Assaidi has agreed to the switch as he makes a second attempt to crack it on England.

The speedy 24-year-old had offers from Holland and Belgium but fancied Rangers and the chance to shine in the second tier.

Hoops boss Harry Redknapp has been looking for extra width and pace as he changes the look and style of his side.

Assaidi, a Morocco international, joined the Reds from Dutch side Heerenveen a year ago in a £2.4million deal.

He played only 12 times, and did not start once in the Premier League, and has watched Liverpool strengthen their attacking options with Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto this summer.

Sounds like a great loaning. Just goes to show the pull of being in London. One Moroccan out, one in.

I was blissfully unaware of this bloke, but sounds interesting. Left or right wing? not that it matters, he will be played on the 'wrong' side.

We could always redirect him to FFC if it all goes pear shape.

Likewise, my astonishing lack of any football awareness is revealed yet again.

    Flyer, who is he?

I had never heard of him, but he has similar traits to Adel. Let's hope those traits are only football related.

I don't think Townsend was ever coming to us in the championship

Plenty of prem sides would snap him up

If this becomes official it could prove to be a great signing.

Assaidi is the second wide player we need to really strengthen our squad. He and Hoillet on the wings will have teams in this league in a world of trouble.

Will also allow Barton to go back into CM where we'll be even better.

Might be as effective as Macheda in the long run; step overs and circus tricks are all very fine when you're winning 3-0.
