It's been reported today in The Mail (not read it just seen it on the BBC gossip page) that Carlos Tevez has turned down an offer of £20M a year to play for them. To me that just shows how much they are trying to take the piss out of Liverpool by trying to drive the price down for Aquaman. Thoughts??
Couldn't agree more. They've got the money to buy Aquilani. Quote from that Daily Mail article: 'Juventus are flexing their muscles in the transfer market again and have around £100m to spend' If they have got £100M to spend, I don't want us to lower the price we agreed with them. If Juventus don't pay, i'm sure other Italian clubs would be interested and be prepared to pay what we think he is worth.
Since they made that comment they cannot ''poor mouth''.I reckon Liverpool should now play ''hard-ball'' with them. They tried a similar stunt with Alonso and get rebuffed.A price has been agreed and if they want him they have to stump up the cash,as some reports suggest other clubs ie AC Milan are sniffing around Aquilani.
where have they got this money from? I thought they had been struggling financially, and also they haven't had any recent success. Where has this £100mil come from? Apparently Ath Madrid have also confirmed Juventus are willing to pay Aguero's buyout clause. To be honest i would have no interest in going to Juventus, they chop and change their coaches and players, have no indication of sustained progress and the glory team of 10 years ago is long gone. Only my opinion obviously, but Juventus as a prospect wouldn't excite me. Then again the Italian league as a whole wouldn't excite me.
I hope if we do sell Aquilani to Juve that we get as much of the £20mil back as possible. It seems when ever Liverpool sell players (bar Alonso & Torres) we seem to roll over and let other clubs name their price. So many clubs stick another £5mil on players when ever we try and sign them, why aren't we doing the same thing. Owen, for £8mil, was worth at least £15mil. Mascherano, sold for £20mil even though we signed him from West Ham reserves for £18mil and made him one of the best DM in the world. Tell them to pay up or go home. If they don't want him then see if anyone else does and if not, keep him and let him prove everyone wrong.
Yeah, I made this point in another thread. Juve are linked to so many players who actually will cost more than Aquilani, so who knows why they haven't just paid us for him. You'd think it'd annoy Aquilani too, that the club who claim to want him to stay won't pay a very resonable price for him. They're basically saying 'you're not that good.'
Juve are doing this because Aquaman has expressed a desire to stay so Juve think they have us over a barrel as it were. That's why there is all this nonsense, they are chancing their arm, I would when you are talking millions. I reckon the deal will go through in the summer for near enough the asking proce. Masc also wanted out, otherwise barca would have paid about 28m but with Masc wanting to go and having been promised to go along with barca's money woes made that deal as low as 20m
Hasn't the new Juve manager just said he doesn't want Aquilani? That could be why they were slow to do the deal before they got a new manager. That, and they just signed Pirlo. Also: I don't want to start (another?!) pissing contest, but isn't that just a variation on the "why will players join Liverpool when they aren't in Europe?" argument? Neither Juve nor Liverpool have had a great last decade, but they are still both massive clubs with a history that will attract players even if they have struggled in recent years.
RE Swarbs, I think it was more just a dig (and a rightful one) at Juventus in general. They way they do business is pretty poor and I agree with Skrtels Nips; the Italian league is the most boring thing I've ever seen. So slow and zero pressure put on players, no wonder Aquilani did so well there this season. Have to admit, I think he'd just get injured straight away back in the prem, not that I want him to come back. We rescued the ungrateful git and spent god knows how much on medical bills for him then to treat us like this and drive down his price by saying he doesn't want to come back. He will go to another Italian club and Aquilani will, unfortunately, be marked in our history books as a flop. Shame really.
Firstly. Juventus have shot themselves in the foot by announcing that they have all this money to spend.Look what happened when Citeh announced they were going on a massive spending spree, the price of players almost trebled.£24 million for Lescott?Everton saw Hughes coming and took him to the cleaners.I reckon that Liverpool having heard this should play ''hard-ball'' and insist that Juventus pay the agreed fee.It is only fair,as they are attempting to renage on a deal that they themselves agreed in principle.Secondly why should Liverpool drop their price for Juventus, just because Juventus said so.Who do they think they are. They wouldn't ask other clubs to do so.
Either we make clear profit on Aqua-man or he comes back. I don't care if he doesn't want to, it was our medical team that finally fixed him, he can start paying us back.
Noblelox. Correct. Roma never got £20 million for Aquilani as that deal was structered a percentage was due to success. He didn't have any,so Liverpool don't have to pay it..They did have to pay €12 million and they may have to pay another £800k as part of the 5% sell on fee,but thats it.They will at least make a profit of €3 million.
I thought i'd bring this thread back up because Aquilani's agent has spoken... Alberto Aquilani's agent believes the Liverpool midfielder's future could be decided in the next 24 hours. The Italian midfielder has spent this season on loan at Juventus, but the Turin giants failed to exercise their first buy-out option to sign the player on a permanent basis, which expired last month. Juventus have been looking to reduce the fee agreed between the clubs at the beginning of the loan deal, putting into doubt a permanent switch to Turin. Aquilani's representative, Franco Zavaglia, expects Juventus to make a decision on the former Roma man in the next 24 hours with AC Milan waiting in the wings for the 26-year-old. "All season Juventus have always given me the necessary guarantees that they want to keep Alberto," Zavaglia told Tutto Juve. "The next 24 hours will be decisive. Any eventual economic agreements will follow after Juventus make their decision." Zavaglia admits Aquilani would be interested in a possible move to Serie A champions Milan if the Juve deals falls through. "Who wouldn't like to play for Milan? Milan are a model club," added Zavaglia. "If Juventus can't do a deal for Alberto and he has to return to Liverpool, then Milan would certainly be a destination that he would accept." Thoughts?
I read the same thing on Sky text,so lets see what happens,I read another report that Juventus now will not pay more than £6 million. They should put up or shut up and stop wasting our time.Maybe we should piss them off by putting in an unrealistic £4 million bid in for Milos Krasic. It does work both ways.
"All season Juventus have always given me the necessary guarantees that they want to keep Alberto," - what a load of rubbish that is. How can they guarantee something and not only break the agreement on the asking price, but also offer less than half of it?
I personally, if we can't get at least 10 million from Juve, would keep Aqua. He would be really helpful for our team in terms of depth, range of passing, and if we got him playing again with confidence, we would have that Italian international back. How can Juve ask that low when we loaned him out he was not in the Italian squad, now he is and he is worth less?
There seems to be no logic whatsoever. We should hold out and wait to see if AC Milan put in a firm bid..they are reportedly sniffing around and it would suit all parties involved.
I say we keep him. I'v always said that. He's a realy good player who hasn't had a fair crack at it yet. Sodd Juve. If we announce he's staying then they'll up the bid. Then we can tell them to do one!
I think this has got to be one of the most drawn out sagas in LFC history. I wish we would make a statement that he's coming back end of. Then see if AC and Inter are serious bidders. If we don't take decisive action were going to screw the lad up again, just like Hodgson did by loaning him out in the first place.
Totally agree. He should never have been sent out on loan in the first place. However, I don't think Kenny wants him back and that is what Juve are trying to play on. I'd tell them to kiss it and refuse to sell him to them at all. He's a good player and somebody will come in with a decent bid. We'll eventually get what he's worth, but it can't be good for his confidence to see Juve offer such a small amount of money for him.
