Like I said last night, any attempt to bench the player or force him into the reserves only harms Liverpool, they need his expertise desperately and they need him to be happy. If they persist with this, they have neither.

As far as Benzema goes, he'd be a downgrade compared to our alternate reality where we've already signed Suarez (). He has his moments, but he is a lazy ****, and the crowds would turn on him. We need an ambitious quality player, a fighter, someone like Suarez but not necessarily him.

And then we still need a DM, backup CB, and a versatile Winger... I guess all our interests there are as high-profile and contentious as Suarez that evidently nothing is going to happen until the very end? (right...)

 

The action isn't an attempt to make him stay. His comments in the media has made it impossible for him to stay. The club has rightly separated him from the squad!

 

All the quotes comming from the players suggest they are expecting a few signings. Wengers direct quotes say we are still working on getting transfersdoenand that they expect to get signings the fans will be happy with. I think quite a lot is going to happen over the next few weeks!

 

Agree with you there. I think they are forcing him to hand in a transfer request. They have no intention of paying him loyalty bonuses and to be honest I can't blame them.

 

I saw on Twitter that some papers are reporting that are Arsenal are about to bid 51,000,000 pounds for Luis Suarez. Not sure how reliable but surely that'd be enough money if true

All this nonsense of Arsenal making a new bid is just that. I doubt we are going to instantly react on the words of Gordon Taylor. If anything happens it won't be until next week.

 

By the way, the pic of Luis crying was circulated on twitter yesterday, I presume before or just after he made that statement.

I think Wenger said 'we're on standby' but it does suggest that we're pretty close to getting this deal done. Suarez is a Liverpool player by name only now, he wants out and Liverpool have said they will sell. I think we're waiting to see if the clause has any weight and our 4Om bid will secure it. If not I think we'll ensure we close this deal with an improved offer.
