Liverpool, stop being ****s, let the man leave. Simple as that. Take the 40 million, spend 35 million of it on Bendtner, and be happy. It might sound funny to spend 35 million on Bendtner, but you did spent 35 million on Carroll, LOL, what the **** are you guys smoking?

 

Suarez's interview changed a lot, and he really had to do it because Liverpool (Rogers) was lying to the press and saying that Suarez was happy and Suarez "Understood" and that there was no problem.

If Rogers was willing to lie about that, then it isn't difficult to see how he might lie about the contract as well.

Not sure how Liverpool hope to hang onto a player playing against his will. His value has dropped already, because that is not going to happen. Whatever you might believe about the contract, Suarez seems to have genuinely believed that he would be allowed to move. The fact that there is any clause in the contract (even if you think it is a strange and useless one) seems to lend weight to his opinion.

I suspect employment law would look unkindly on an employer using trickery to make sure an employee couldn't move employer, or change his rate of pay, even if in football it is hardly slavery. I also think that most players will be very worried about this setting a precedent so he will probably have the backing of the player's association who must be getting to know Suarez pretty well by now . Difficult to see how the clubs will react, but I don't think many will want to openly side with Liverpool, as they don't want to piss off their players.

I just can't see too many friends for Liverpool here, nor can I see too many "Good" outcomes for Liverpool.

I don't think any panel, court, or judge, is going to tell him to work out his contract. It would be like a compulsory work order and it is the sort of thing that all the employment laws are designed to prevent.

I can't see Suarez playing for Liverpool this year. What if he plays badly? More likely he will just say he is injured. It is not in Suarez's interest to play well. He is hardly going to believe that they will let him go next year, or anytime and he is not going to be a very positive influence in training or around the team.

I don't see anyone else in for him. Although Liverpool are bigging him up and he is the kind of player a lot of people like, he still played for a team that finished down the table. He definitely has a negative side, and right now 40M is more than a fair price for him. The ONLY reason Liverpool value him so high is because he has 3 years left on his contract. If he had only one year he would be presumably worth less than RVP was. If the relationship has soured to the point that he can't, or wont play out those years, then he isn't worth anything close to 40M.

Really the best thing now is for Liverpool to sell him to Arsenal for 40M, get them to pretend they paid 55M, and move on.

This has really been bungled by Liverpool, probably because of American owners that don't know the football business, and an inexperienced manager, who does think he is all knowing and all-powerful. Their arrogance and ignorance has been staggering through this affair, only matched by their fans. I think they all completely misread the situation and believed that they were in a position of strength. Have they all been sleeping over the last decade of player-power? Once a player wants to leave a club, his value drops by half and you get rid of him. It is true for Arsenal and Manchester United and it is true for Liverpool.

 

Reading the last few pages highlights how fickle football fans (myself included) are.

well one can only try to avoid a thread , but when it runs for 3 weeks and keeps on repeating itself ad infinitum , i suggest that posters trake a step back and ask what they are actually posting FOR .

Why not wait for Suarez to pi$$ or get off the pot.
