Well upwards & onwards. Feel slightly better about squad when our best play came with what a lot of us consider our second midfield three of Alberto Allen Henderson Ibe looks like he's caught a step ahead of Sterling. Aspas and Borini look good run wise now just get the shooting boots on. Hopefully we can keep Coutinho injury free! Kelly looked good bar hair.
Having Sturridge bacvk is going to really make a difference aswell. Not that we are playing badly, (Best Preseason for many years.) But I still think we need him back in the side to reach this squads potential.
So another good performance and another victory. Thought wisdom was excellent at centre back and looked really comfortable there. First half performance was best, played at high speed and good pressing, looked a bit pedestrian at times Edmond half. As someone already said might have been Allens prescience who I thought looked really good. Feel for Borini ,really feel there is a good player in there just seems to lack confidence. Could do with a goal or two. But we look like we can score every time we go forward..even without "he who can't be named" Thought sterling looked a bit lightweight tonight, ibe showed far more speed power and determination.
It's only preseason but 4 goals and 4 assists in 5 games for Aspas. A few goals for Sterling and a few for Coutinho too. Looking good thus far.
Bit harsh, I think he is a better player with more to his game than last season. last year, he only worked the left wing, doing his "Ronaldo" step overs. He may not have been as electrifying this pre-season, but he now wanders over to the right a bit more, and seems to be maturing. I'm glad he is here, and learning. Not the finished article, but still looking like he will be top draw.
