Mulenga, Finnbogason and Pelle are the only three left in the Eredivisie. Of the three I think Mulenga is the one that first the EPL the most. Big, fast and strong striker. He could be quite cheap as he has one year left on his contract. Downside is, he is already 29, injury prone and he is gone for the Africa cup in January. And Pelle is in the zone at Feyenoord, but can even be out of his depth there, like last week when he did absolutely nothing in the game against PEC Zwolle. And I really don't have faith he will perform anywhere outside of the Eredivisie. And like I said, Finnbogason is more of a Bundesliga or maybe Serie A kind of player. Physical and agile. There are some upcoming strikers but they will need at least one or two more seasons.

The Eredivisie is literally sold out on strikers. Bony to Swansea, Platje went to Neftchi Baku, Altidore to Sunderland, Babel to Kasimpasa, Chery went to Groningen, Mertens to Napoli, Lens to Dynamo Kiev, Chevalier to KV Kortrijk, Malki to Kasimpasa and Armenteros to Anderlecht. And for my lay down on Castaignos, check my blog 'rich kids' on my website. It'll explain his case.

Very interesting. There are many talented youngsters in Chelsea's set up who they have brought in from other clubs that aren't getting a lot of game time, wasteful.

Did you scroll all the way to the bottom? Cause there's an ending to it with a question for the next 'new' talent at Chelsea.

Pretty much agree with these sentiments. What do people know about this Sow guy, I've never heard of him, but then outside champions league games, I don't know who's who in Europe.

Yeah I read that bit, it is an intriguing purchase by Chelsea as you would have thought that their midfield is to a high enough standard anyway

A quick turn of pace, movement and unpredictability are things we have lacked up top on a few occasions. Many a time has a creative player flicked it on and we've been stationary. Our attack is strange, sometimes it's like 'the red arrows' (I hate you, Lawrenson) and on other occasions it's like turning the Titanic.

We struggle to break down determined defences. If we can't punch a hole on the counter (the red arrows thing) we tend to get a bit stuck. I can't see how this guy would improve that really, he doesn't seem to offer much in terms of link-up play from what I can tell, 2 assists in his last game notwithstanding.

Why aren't we talking about Damio on the Leandro Damio thread?! We're never going to reach the magic 100 pages and therefore his signature if we talk about him on here! Sort it out mods!!

The problem we had last year was not enough attackers were willing to run at a players and shoot. We don't need a supremely gifted striker. Look how many goals Puncheon scored/created just because he was always attacking.

Ramirez didn't really excel last year. Lallana was a bit off. Lambert was forced into a deeper set up role. That's 3 out of 4 attackers not attacking like they should.

Someone like Billy Sharp will be fine. We're playing a high line and pressing so how much ground will a striker really have to cover? I think you need a lot of stamina but not so much speed. A poacher can feed off all the ricocheted clearances, bad passes and other busted plays from the press. I suppose there is some doubt Sharp has the ability at this level, so maybe not Sharp himself. But I have no problem at all with bringing in a striker who is "just a better version of Sharp."

I'm afraid I do, and who's to say this guy is markedly better than Sharp anyway? Plenty worse players than Sharp have scored hatfuls in the Eredivisie.

Van Persie, Van der Vaart, Sneijder, Robben, Kuyt all scored hatfuls in the Eredivisie and not to forget Suarez, Dembele, Ruiz, and for this season Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Bony, Altidore. Yep, it's all **** in the Eredivisie...

Was prolific a couple of years ago when playing for Lille, helping them win Ligue 1 in France, earning top scorer that season. Was linked to a host of big clubs that summer and joined Fener, I haven't seen much of him since as I don't really watch the Turkish league, but looking at wiki he still has a good goal scoring record there.

From watching him at Lille he is a quick, powerful striker who likes to run with the ball. I think he could fit into our system, but I feel he needs to be the main man in an attacking set up, not too sure about his work rate in a high pressing system aswell.

That will go nicely with a win for Anders Svensson and Elfsborg tonight, eliminating Celtic from the CL.

You misunderstand me. I didn't say everyone who scores loads in the Eredivisie is "****" to use your words; I recognise that many good players have come out of it and excelled elsewhere. What I said was there are players who have done well in the Eredivisie only to come up short once they have got a move to a more prestigious league. You can't deny that even among your examples there are players who are either unproven or turned out to have been flattered by the generous defending in the Dutch league. Kuyt couldn't repeat his goalscoring feats anywhere else, Altidore has never done it anywhere else and Bony and van Wolfswinkel still have to prove they can do it in a top league. Not to mention all the players you didn't mention: Afonso Alves, Vleminckx, El Hamdaoui, Bas Dost, Luuk de Jong, etc, etc.

I have nothing at all against the Dutch league, but the record of players moving from there to other countries is very variable to put it mildly. Can you honestly recommend Finnbogasson to us with total confidence he would be a success?

Afonso Alves was a laughing stock, Vleminkx didn't go elsewhere, he returned to his home league. El Hamdaoui was another laughing stock, Ajax even put him in reserves for one and a half year. Bas Dost did all right, the rest of his team didn't. Luuk de Jong injured for half a season. Etc. Etc.

And Kuyt was still very useful for Liverpool over the years, I remember a hattrick against ManU for example. And I only said that Bony, Altidore and v Wolfswinkel are the ones to watch this season. And no I wouldn't recommend Finnbogason. He only played one year for Heerenveen, a brilliant season he had but he needs way more experience and games than just one season. And even IF he was going, then still the Bundesliga over the EPL.

As could be said for any league that has sent players to the Premier League, as well as the record of Premier League players moving elsewhere. It's the kind of argument people make when they know nothing about a player and are too lazy to find out.

I'll take Cove's word for it because he actually knows something about the player.
