Quinn on his day is a good player but he didn't have that many that I saw. Granted I missed a couple of home games and only got to a slack handful of away games so he might have saved a lot of his better displays for when I wasn't there. Doubt it mind.
You're right, Carmine. We were the second best of a bad bunch, and we often won games because of poor forward play and/or dodgy defensive stuff from our opponents. Yes, there were 22 worse sides than us and so we deserved our promotion, but the gulf between our players and the rest of the Premier League sides (bar Palace) is huge. Koren was poor for the majority of our games and Quinn was always somewhere between average and OK
I think we're in danger of overstating the "****ness" of some of our squad. Would AB make my first team? No. But......he is really here as a "squad" member. We know it, he knows it, his Dad knows it. When he comes in he does his best where ever he plays. He accepts he is only in because of injuries etc but he does so with good grace and 100% effort. The trouble with buying "better" squad members is that they cause ill feeling and disruption because they think they should be in the first team all the time. So all in all a certain level of ****ness is a good thing.
He came fourth, Brady 13, Elmo 9, Simpson 8, Quinn 6, Koren 5, Aluko 3, Dudgeon 2, Meyler 2, with Chester, Evans, Rosie and Hobbs getting one each.
I agree fully with carmine re quinn, he's an engine and never stops working but he's not all that talented and doesn't have an end product, although he does a lot of the donkey work for the others to put the finishing touches on and that's why he was such an important player for us last season. I don't think he'll be as effective this season, but I still think he'll be a major part of our team depending what formation we end up using dominantly, I don't think he'll fit into a 4-4-2, not quick enough for the wing but not a tackler or creative enough for the middle, in fact I'd say he is almost a carbon copy of dean marney with a bit more skill and ginger hair.
