    Cheers Mikra.

    Brought back many memories.

As Wales are serial bottlers at qualifying for major championships, it is common place to nail your shirt to the mast of another team during these tournaments. During the 80's and 90's, my chosen team were usually the Danes. Perhaps it was because of the similarity between us and you, in that a small country surpassing/outplaying 'established teams', perhaps it was also the awesome Hummel kits, but mainly it was down to both the Laudrup brothers. They were both brilliant but both different.

For the record Michael was my favourite though. The only thing that tarnished your Euro 92 win was him not being there. It was a strange tournament in that it was obvious that his talent was missing and the style of the team wasn't the same, yet you surpassed everyone's expectations (probably even Michael's!) :D

Was his image ever tarnished in Denmark for his stance in refusing to play for Nielsen?

No, it wasn't. It was obvious to see that their playing styles was NO match. ML him self was never bitter about NOT becoming an European champion. In Denmark there is a feeling that we might not even have won the championship with ML in the team: just to give an impression of how primitively we played. But Brian flourished - an indication of how good he could be with a team built around him (as in Glasgow).

He's wasn't a bad player was he? Almost as good as Steve Torpey in his pomp...
