The problem with benching him, particularly if they then don't get CLagain is that other top players will not want to go there, thinking they may end up heldthere when they want to move on. Clubs have to at least appear to work with there players!

If they do decide to do that, it will be an emotional decision rather than a rational one. He is worth at least 20-25 goals a season, and you cannot lose that kind of impact on a team. Crazy. Rather sell and replace with two lesser players who can make up the deficit.

"It is not as if I am asking to move to a local rival. And I would not consider moving to a club outside the Champions League. I have made my desire to move known in private various times and now it feels like the time for me to make it public."

There you go. Even your boy Suarez says we're not "Rivals". <rofl>

Just completely ignore the 'local' bit then. If I was to say "you don't like penis", we can ignore the don't.

Anyway arsenal, hurry up and get your £50m bid in, getting fed up with it all. I have no problem with him going to you, as long as you beat utd on every front. I just worry for you that Madrid will sneak in soon.

Madrid aren't interested. their target is Bale or no-one, plus they are not keen on signing a striker as they have talented youngster's who they want to progess with.

Arsenal are the only likely bidders and Liverpool are desperate for another club to get involved and push the bidding up yet much depends on this clause of 40 million.

In my opinion strict action should be taken against club for not selling Suarez as the buyout clause is already triggered.

Yes but it's not clear how exactly this clause works but it seems the clause in writing says Liverpool should consider the offer but don't have to accept, which is why suarez feels anger as he took Liverpools word if a bid was made from a champion league club for 40 million then they would accept.

Thats how I view the situation but until this gets messy or suarez takes action, we won't fully know.

I would say its pretty messy. If I were Liverpool, Id be starting to worry about what the worst case scenario is for them. The contract declared void and Suarez allowed to move on a free? The league saying that contract fiddling brings the league into disrepute and Liverpool have points deducted? A criminal offence against Liverpool FC for breaking some employment law?

It isn't totally outside the realms of possibility.

It is slightly messy, but just like the bale situation am waiting for the **** to really hit the fan, which is more likely with suarez.

Although I can't have a great deal of sympathy for Suarez as 07 aug 2012

    http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/luis-suarez-signs-new-liverpool-3336825

Its pretty sad when players are on 3-4 year contracts and then are happy to agree an extension so they get a pay rise, tell everyone they are happy and committed and then a year later treat the club with virtually zero respect, but thats common practice now? stiill pathetic.

But going back to this contract, if its just a verbal agreement, and its Suarezs word agaisnt liverpool, I don't see how it can be enforced as while it may allegedly say ""we agree to consider any offer over 40 million"", that means by rights Liverpool can consider your offer and reject it and hold out for a higher offer over and accept it.

The problem for Liverpool is, no one apart from Arsenal wants to go near Saurez and they have a bee in their bonnet about Madrid Valuing Bale at a world record fee.

What I think will happen here is that Liverpool will dig in their heels until the last week of the window, when Suarez will then instigate court proceedings and at that point Liverpool will know they are beaten. Arsenal, will then offer another two or three million and Liverpool knowing that they can't keep him hostage, will wake up and take the money.

For me, this whole posturing about the Bale bid - which hasn't even materialised yet - was one the the biggest indications that Rodgers is desperate. They know he wants out, so they are just trying to ramp up the price, but the comparison was laughable. It's like saying, your mate down the road with more money than sense has just been ripped off on buying a new car, so we expect you to do exactly the same.

It certainly looks like he will leave. If he hands in a transfer request and it is accepted there will be other interest, It looks like he is gone but I wouldn't say you have him yet as other clubs will get involved if he is for sale.

I cant see Madrid paying another £50m after spending £100m odd on Bale, Chelsea would be the most likely if they fail to get Rooney
