Yeah, key point being though that these trophies are why you chose to support United. Had they not won half as much you'd be a dipper.
And the truth comes out. You see, real fans don't care what their clubs have won. Glory hunters are the only one's that brag about their success. Don't worry though, you're not alone.99% of your supposed support doesn't even live in England ffs.
Your bold profile message suggests you care what Chelsea have won. If we had won a cup in my lifetime I would care about it too. Being proud of success is no bad thing. As for foreign fans, you love a good stat about how big Chelsea are in Asia/Africa. What percentage of your fans don't live here?
Are you from Manchester? Would you have supported them if it weren't for their various league titles and champions league prior to 74? How many times have you been to Old Trafford? I pretty much know the answers to all those.
You keep missing the point. I think it's all that pent up anger. Big difference between celebrating success and it being the overriding factor to why you support a club. #engagebrain
It need not be an angry argument. There is only one person looking for one and it isn't me. I just think it's a bit hypocritical to bleat about how successful you are and how global the club is and then lambast others for doing the same but in a less 'in your face' manner. You say he's a glory hunter but that's a guess based on no more than who he supports. I could throw the same accusation at Chelsea fans who crow on forums about recent success. I really doubt you'd be the ardent superfan you portray on here if you were playing Carlisle and Tranmere but similarly, that's a guess. Maybe you were there for 9000 crowds in the 80s but you would claim on here you were regardless.
I am from the Worcestershire, I became a UTD fan as my Uncle, a UTD fan was.is a season ticket holder and he used to bring me a match programme back, so I became a UTD fan off the back of that. So when I started to support them UTD we not in anyway a good team. also I was born in 1970, so misses all the title wins/europo cup win, due to not being born.
You don't need to explain yourself to these clowns. Most Chelsea fans aren't second generation and/or it isn't their local club. As long as they're from the South East they seem to think it's acceptable to be a Chelsea fan even if there are a number of other clubs more local to them. You think some of the morons who post on this board live in Chelsea (or Fulham where Stamford Bridge is)?! I haven't lived in Manchester for 16 years so should probably relinquish my right to be a United fan!
You can fluff it up as much as you like but the fact is 20 years ago you were getting smaller crowds in the top flight than teams like Forest were in the second tier. The Chelsea paradox. Desperate to call other people glory hunters but also desperate to fabricate a history and brag about their wordwide fan base.
Is Warrington in Manchester? No. Why, is that where you're from? Did your uncle start supporting them also being from Worcestershire too? While they were actually winning things by any chance? You've told me you were from Worcestershire before by the way, which is why I asked thos questions and they were tongue in cheek/rhetorical. There you go again, telling people how they feel without knowing a single thing! Bravo.
He was born in Kidderminster, but lived in Manchester from 63-85, but now back in Kidderminster. I would have been a Wolves fan like my old man, but he never went to many games, so the UTD match prog won the day.
I'm not from Warrington. I picked it randomly as a town near to Manchester. It's clear from your answer that you'd consider someone from Warrington who supports Manchester United to be a glory hunter. Would you have the same opinion of a Chelsea fan from the Home Counties? Is there a Drogs formula to guide us all on what does and doesn't make an acceptable football supporter (with you as the benchmark obviously coming from a multi generation Chelsea family and being a season ticket holder who was born and still lives on the Fulham Road)? By the way, there are 2 football clubs closer to Warrington than Manchester United (Wigan and Bolton by 2 miles and half a mile respectively). I wonder how many London/South East clubs are bypassed by Chelsea fans on their way to choosing Chelsea?
United were a good team from 76 onwards say when you started supporting them: winning FA cups, top four finishes in the league with the odd title challenge; 85/6, (which Dixon ended with a brace, well kind of) and 79/80 spring to mind. You would know this if you supported United then but obviously you only followed them properly when they became really good post Sky
So yes then. 1) I would, circumstances depending of course. I mean if your old man is from Manchester and a Manchester United fan then fair enough. It proves my point perfectly that they are choosing United for glory reasons when there is Wigan and Bolton closer to them. 2) No and nobody has to agree with me, I just don't see what's wrong with supporting your local team. Why the Fulham road btw? I haven't suggested you have to live on the same road, just at least the same City or same area of that City, or even have a connection with the City and attend games regularly. As for me being the benchmark, I wouldn't exactly be saying is stuff or holding this opinion if CFC weren't my local club.
