I'm struggling to think of any Championship players being loaned to Premiership clubs before. To my knowledge this hasn't ever happened until now. ( At least I can't think of any. ) Why would we do this? Can anyone give a reasoned and definitive answer because I'm totally baffled by this precedent. Especially after Harry said categorically that no players would go out on loan. What on earth is going on at QPR?
I am glad you raised this subject, because I thought of it earlier, at first I thought this is a masterplan from your chairman to lend his players out, and when rangers get promoted again bring them back again, great plan saves money on wages etc, then I thought if players contracts are a year older they will be worth less money in a years time then now, it maybe that the clubs like ffc Newcastle etc are in a strong position to take these players off the wage bill, and then the likes of ffc get good players without having to buy them, it maybe it suits all parties and harry gets rid of his trouble makers. will the loanees come back again and play for rangers, promotion is a must
Cheers FT. You make some good points. Personally I feel that the players will benefit more than us. They are putting themselves selfishly in the Prem shop window by going to you and NUFC so that if they do well they will possibly furnish a move to a bigger side than ( No disrespect intended here ) to one of the bigger European clubs once the season is done and dusted. There is no way they will come back to us unless you and Newcastle sadly go down and no one else wants them. If you stay up, they will be off elsewhere. It makes no sense.
I don't really understand the decision to loan out Remy for the whole season. Had we loaned he out until Christmas, after which his name would have hopefully been cleared, we could have potentially brought him back, depending on the state of AJ and Zamora, or extended his loan.
It doesn't make sense - we temporarily palm off our better players to Premiership suitors and then hope that we get promoted with a weakened side (compared to if they were still here). Furthermore, we don't get any transfer revenue to invest in new players thus ham-stringing us further. The players that want to stay in the top flight had last season to impress but seem to be given another chance to shine at our expense. We're rewarding our players for letting us down. Either contribute now or get the he'll out - no half measures for me.
I think the key factor in both these deals is uncertainty. Both players are effectively like ticking time-bombs to anyone who would pay a big fee for them. Remy due to his pending court case and Adel due to his totally unpredictable behaviour. If either club were to pay a fee of say £8 million based on what we know they are possibly worth (more than that at their best) and then Remy was convicted or Adel threw a big strop then they wouldn't be lumbered with a player of clearly diminishing worth. Good deal both ways in the circumstances but I doubt we'll see either in the Hoops again...
Come off it, nothing has prevented TF and Co from spending. Could it have something to do with the restrictions on how much can be put into the club over and above TV, gate receipts and transfer fees if we do get straight back up to the Prem? We won't be able to spend lots of extra money on new Remys and Adels, but if they are already on the books (having been loaned out for a year) then there is no problem. We can use them or sell them to produce revenue that we can spend. If these players are loaned out and stay in the Prem they have more chance of keeping or enhancing their value. Is this plausible?
As to most, the loaning out if Remy doesn't make any sense to me BUT could it be a possibility that Remy actually does want to play for QPR, but felt the only way he could get into the French WC squad, is to play this season in the PL. Maybe he thinks just one season in the PL is all he needs, and when (if) we get promoted, he'll be back to the club he loves. After reading Warnocks book, I can imagine that Redknapp just doesn't suffer fools gladly and hates Taraabts work ethic, therefore couldn't wait to get rid at the first possible moment and Fulham have been given a 'try before you buy' deal. That's my theories anyway
For me its all very strange Remy had a buyout clause in case of relegation. If no one activated that to purchase him we should have stuck to our guns and kept him for this season. A contract is a two way arrangement Adel and redknapp was never going to work was it? Seems to me TF is gambling massively on promotion at all costs To be honest can anyone work out what our transfer policy has been since the day TF took over?
1 What Harry says and what he does are two different things 2 Remy has no transfer value until he has been cleared or has served his sentence 3 In spite of what HR says, the players we still have that he does not want are too expensive for purchasers - our price is too high, TF is not the one he's selling to. 4 Other players are on wages that are far too high and nobody is willing to pay those wages - hence the player is quite happy to sit and rot in the reserves. We are doing this because that's all we can do given the silly contracts we gave out in the first place and the comtempt for them that their manager shows. Next question?
No mystery to me. Both players must have made it clear that they do not want to play in the championship, and reflected this in their attitude. In Remy's case he's very expensive per week as well. No other club has offered what we would consider a reasonable fee to buy them outright, because of attitude and legal issues, at a wild guess. We are snookered, loaning only option unless we want two miserable, expensive blokes hanging around saying they are too good to play in the league their performances contributed to getting us in.
Errr, not really, if you have as you say a ticking time bomb the best thing to do is either stop it ticking or get rid completely. You don't do a deal where said ticking time bomb is loaned out for full usage but you'll take all the risk if it blows up! It may have escaped your notice but we're coming up to Ticking Time Bomb Season - This is a short period in the year where desperate chairmen and managers are willing to pay top Dollar, full price for ANY available ticking time bombs. Even more so, Ticking Time Bombs that find the back of the net regularly or skillfull ticking time bombs are even more sought after. To be fair to Dumb he saw this but Dumber (I'm learning fast) is just getting dumber. There is no other word to describe this piece of business as lunacy. Many of you quote how TF cant be so stupid to get to where he is in his Airline Business and so we must trust him, well, you know what I wouldn't have AirAsia which is also showing a nice downward trend in my share portfolio thats for sure!!
Makes no sense to me, getting in transfer fees to enabling investing in the future does. Even if we do get promoted are we supposed to welcome back players who's poor attitude could potentially have damaged our pre-season? If a player does want to leave how about putting in a transfer request not effectively going on strike - the only reason they don't is because they want a big payoff.
And I bet that you're absolutely right. However........................... It wasn't our next shot to play we still have over 3 weeks for other desperate snooker players to take their chances from the baulk cushion. Right now this smacks of desperation and what's worse how the ff.... are we going to get rid of Granero, Diakite, Mbia, Cesar, Ferdinand, DumBarton, SWP without giving them away? Sorry, erase Dumbarton, Ferdinand and SWP - apparently we want them
Agree with all of the above. Especially the Remy agreement, just bad business. Always been my view that if you want him then pay up, otherwise he does what he is contracted to do - score goals for the club that pays him. We would have to keep to our side of the bargain and sell him if someone came up with the money, the alternative is he has to keep to his contract and scores goals that will help us get back to the EPL. No idea on how we look/identify targets - all seems haphazard to me. You expect to identify key areas, and priorities, then focus on them; with other possibles being worked on as well. I have no idea when I read the rumours who we will sign, for what positions, with what potential, or with any planning for the future and longer term development.
At this moment Remy has no value...as a selling item....but he needs to play in the Prem...sorry it is the only answer. I understand we are getting £2 mill, they pay his wages...sounds perfect (but I do not know what happens if he is convicted). So Remy is obvious...and only way...especially if by some miracle we are promoted....fantastic...we can decide next season what to do Adel.....I realise with Harry here he had to go...but do not understand a loan, except if Fulham (the only bidder...would only take him on a loan, because he is a problem!)....maybe this is a wake up call ( a game of bluff to Adels agent)...you are going out on loan to a non-glamourous prem club, but with Jol (a Adel lover)......get your agents to get Genoa, Sevilles, Real Madrid to make a real bid...
I still think it has something to do with spending curbs if we gain promotion straight back to the PL. They are top players that we will not need to buy as we already own them. Even if we sell them at least the money can go on other players. Their wages are off the books and we make a few million in loan fees in the meantime. If they were not offered this deal the players would be off (and I wouldn't hold it against either of them) and the cash would disappear into the accounts. The pair are monetary asserts at the moment. The bigger the assets in the club, if we do go up, the better. There will no longer be the opportunity for big spending or large amounts of money being pumped in by TF et al.
Sorry Beth, but it is extremely unlikely that they are paying all of Remy's wages. He is on c£80k a week, they have a wage cap of £40k. The £2m figure was Harold estimating what we should get with his journalist friends. I don't think Newcastle will be paying anything like that.
This And this If Remy has a great season we probably could sell him for a lot more and a mediocre season means we should recoup 6 mil to break even, Adel is a different proposition but he did initially only cost 1 mil which should be recouped on the loan deal and maybe we won't have to give Spurs a penny of this?
