Oh dear, I was hoping you'd gone to bed and wouldn't see that one mate. I'll buy you a pint next home game.
Kevin Spacey rarely does a bad film (or comes out of a bad one without some credit). Same goes for Edward Norton although I confess I've never really liked either Italian Job movies. Paul Newman had charisma, early De Niro and Pacino were beyond compare. Dustin Hoffman good. Morgan Freeman consistently good. Christian Bale has been the best of recent times.
Kevin Spacey is an interesting shout. Lot of respect for Tom Hanks - a lot of different roles and amazing characterisations. True professional actor.
You remind me of him Staines but a smaller version Where do you come from again ? Vincent Cassel Matt Damon SLJ Steve McQueen Clint Jean Reno Brad Pitt in Snatch Ben Kingsley and the entire cast of Sexy Beast
I like Nicholas Cage, Con Air very good. Caines latest one as the vigilante pensioner I reckon is his best. Cannot watch Woody Allen creepy little ****. Pacino and De Niro are great actors
Your Woody Allen description is the post of the year Loveit. I now have red wine coming out of my nose and all over my laptop.
Nines, that amazing you say that ................ Michael Caine is a classy career actor and it would be hard to go past him. Nicholas Cage ................ I'm in the same boat, I can't stand him. My wife can't get over how much l dislike him. May be it's the buck teeth, no it must be the hunch back, hang on, what about the receding hairline or may be a just crap actor who is definitely not a sex symbol. Apart from that, what a great bloke! ANYWAY, my Favourite Actors Award can only go the the legend himself ............. Mr Clint Eastwood and if you don't like my choice, go ahead and make my day ..... I'll introduce you to my two friends, Smith & Wesson. Aussie
A great thread, Nines. All the usual great have already been mentioned - I'm a particular fan of the likes of Michael Caine, Gene Hackman, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. But there are some lesser-celebrated actors that seem (at least to me) to own the screen whenever they're on, and you can't help but to admire their craft. I'd include in that list the likes of Gary Oldman, David Thewlis, Tommy Lee Jones and occasionally Michael Fassbender. I'm not averse to an unhealthy diet of mindless actioners, so watch anything - no matter how ****ty - with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Statham, Van Damme, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis etc. If I fancy a sly J Arthur than I look no further than Ms Johansson...
I forgot to mention, from the small screen .......... Bernie Kopell ( Siegried ), Don Adams ( Agent 86 ), - Get Smart ......... would you believe? AND The Cast of Seinfield .......... not that there's anything wrong with that.
For sheer range it has to be Sir Ben Kingsley - There is no one that can play Gandhi so well and then go on to play Don as he did. I owned a couple of boozers in Borehamwood and Watford in the 90s and I swear every time I see Sexy Beast it brings back pure shivers of some of the evil I met.
Michael Caine in Austin Powers - Goldmember. Excellent
Favourite Michael Caine movie though is Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Steve Martin, talk about chemistry! Funny as hell
Tommy Lee Jones. Only one bad film - that daft Batman one. Loved his character in The Fugitive. Also excellent in The Client. Hard to disagree with Morgan Freeman too, especially in Shawshank. I heard Kevin Spacey interviewed in the UK few years back and I was really impressed with his atitude. He was promoting a new academy he was starting and his attitude was 'I have been give a lot and I want to give something back'. Impressive. Talking of Spacey, he and Samel L Jackson were pretty awesome in The Negotiator.
Tommy Lee Jones is brilliant in The Fugitive, one of my best movie experiences. Kevin Spacey's two best films for me is The Negotiator and The Usual Suspects.
