Morning all from a bright & sunny West West London. Whilst we were away I received a letter from the club explaining that they were changing the kit sponsorship scheme and we will no longer be able to sponsor and individual players kit items - instead we can only sponsor the player for the season. This costs £695 + VAT, instead of the £150 + VAT to sponsor a players training boots or away kit etc that we previously paid. Included is a ticket to the end of season awards dinner where you will be presented with a signed shirt from your player and have a photgraph taken with them - at last seasons dinner, all of the players were on seperate tables and did not sit with their sponsors - I think Norway was not too happy with this. Previously we sat with our players at the sponsors night and had a chance to have a chat and a laugh and then mingle and get autographs and photos taken. It would seem that the club have moved to more of a corporate type sponsorship scheme and moved away from individual fans sponsoring players. Whilst I can understand that it makes the management of these types of events "easier", I do feel that this will remove a good way that players can interact with us "ordinary" fans - I will be sending a letter to the club explaining my dissapointment.
Morning all, overcast and we are on storm alert for this morning. Doesn't look much like it though at the moment. There has been a lot of comment that I have seen from sponsors who are not happy. Some have handed over their money for 20 years and this change is preventing them from continuing. Quite often two people were sharing the cost so as to feel that they were being part of the club, even if a small part. The general feeling was that the club should think again and quite a few letters are on their way to express that view.

The aircraft had tried to land, failed and hit the ground near the racetrack.
Morning all Lovely sunny day here...just a few puffy white clouds. A walk through the lanes and a pint in the pub for Mrs H and I.
Whilst not decrying anyone's commendable desire to support our club I am not too sure why we need to sponsor a player who is earning a large weekly salary?
I know that where some of the sponsors are small local businesses, it is probably cheaper than advertising space in the programme. As far as I'm aware, it is just a commercial revenue stream for the club, rather than directly to the players. If it is, I'd rather sponsor one of the younger players as they're probably on less. I did think of doing that for this season, but having seen that sponsoring a particular item isn't an option, I'm not going to bother.
The money goes to the club not the player - the player is used to help raise funds - more appropriate really for small clubs who struggle for corporate sponsorship - but in fact is nice for the fans when it links in to end of season awards type dinners at which the sponsor gets to be with his or her player
A touch nerve wracking - but in light of other results tonight, acceptable. Newport winning at Brighton in extra time
