Woodgate was a class act, read the game very well and had more skill than is expected of a centre back.

Pity about his injury problems though.

Chopra and Offiong looked great playing together, almost as if they could read each others minds. Pity they didn't make the step up.

We never helped him by putting him on the left instead of in the centre.

Alan Smith looked set to be, if not great, a solid striker for Man Utd and injury turned him into an average midfielder (albeit with a fantastic work ethic).

I'd say Ramage, I rated him equal to Taylor but... I suppose he's still got time to prove himself but he's not the solid prem-quality centre back I expected him to be.

Xisco, can we count him? Has hardly played for us though to be fair when he did, I thought he looked good as a supporting forward, got an assist didn't he? I still hold hope for him as a player and would happily have him as our 4th choice striker but since he's on something on £60kpw we REALLY need to sell him.

Ameobi has been hampered by his hip injury and though he can still have the odd blinder, I feel if it weren't for his injury he'd be a much better player.

Giuseppe Rossi. Not through lack of quality but lack on playing time. Look at him now! Better than 1 in 3 scoring record for Villarreal, a regular for Italy, I feel we really wasted him. With him playing I reckon we could have finished a little higher, applied for the Intertoto Cup and had another season in Europe to attract better players with.

Diego Gavilan. He was supposed to be the next big thing for a time.

Edit: And Silvio Maric he was well hyped but turned out to be a lemon.
