I'm not going to bother with my normal thread for this match as most will be at the game anyway plus its only a league cup game will post some more info over the next two days.

There's only two options to pick from as of course someone has to win on the night.

I'm going for a 2-1 victory for Watford and I think Richards will score for The Gas.

Doesn;t matter if we would have won yesterday or what, we are always going to lose to Watford. They are far better than us and will win this easily, unless they don't want it!

JW on tomorrow night's game

JW has confirmed that there are no new injury worries ahead of tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup first round match against Watford at the Memorial Stadium.

However, the manager has said that it will be around three weeks before the first of the injured players will be ready to make a return to first team action.

He said: “Everyone is alright after the weekend – it is quite nice to say that! We are not expecting any of the injured players to be back in first team action for about three weeks.

“They can be back training and improving, but we are probably not going to see them in a first team shirt for three weeks.

“I am not going to dwell on that, and I am going to go with the boys who are fit and well, and try really hard; like they did on Saturday

“They worked very hard for the team, and we are disappointed we didn’t get anything, but if we work like that then we will be able to get some good results, and then improve the squad when these guys come back.”

Although the manager was pleased with his team’s attitude and effort on Saturday, he was a little disappointed with some of their work with the ball.

He said: “I was disappointed with our play with the ball. We worked hard without it, and worked hard to get it, but there were times we didn’t use it very well.

“Second period we got back in to the game, used the ball better and threatened the goal more.

“I don’t think I will ever have a major problem with the attitude and the work rate of the team, but we are working hard at trying to improve bits and pieces when we do get hold of the football.”

And John knows that it will be a tough test for his side against Championship opposition tomorrow night.

He said: “This is a result that counts, and I would like to think we will shape up well when Watford have the ball, but we have to make sure we don’t give it away cheaply, because it will be a little while coming back.

“It is a tough game, they are expected to win, so we need to go and give it a very good go. I want to send my team out to try and do well, every game matters.”

watford are a good side. were facing a top 6 championship side. we need to perform to a better standard than what we played against reading which i thought we did rather well. we need to be better against a side like watford. hopefully being the home side might help us. but us fans really need to be the 12th man and get behind the youngsters and encourage them and experienced players who will need us.

“Will Not Underestimate Rovers”

The Hornets will not be taking tonight’s Capital One Cup tie with Bristol Rovers lightly

GIANFRANCO ZOLA says he’s aware of how difficult it is to progress in English Cup competitions and he’ll be fielding a strong side for this evening’s encounter with Bristol Rovers at The Memorial Ground.

Watford face John Ward’s men, himself a former Hornet, in the First Round of the Capital One Cup, and Zola would like to progress further in the competition this season, after dropping out in the Second Round last year to eventual finalists Bradford City.

Speaking yesterday afternoon about the clash, Zola said: “I am considering my team, it will still be strong.

“It is important for the club and for this group of players to go further in a cup competition this season.

“That will mean more games and more opportunities for players, so the Bristol game is a good moment for those players to impress.”

Zola himself was a League Cup winner with Chelsea so he knows what’s required to get to the final in an English Cup competition.

“I know how difficult it is to win Cup games,” he reflected. “We will certainly not be underestimating this game. We’ll prepare well and will be ready.”

Winger Ikechi Anya is not available for tonight’s fixture due to a calf injury, although he’s expected to return to training in a few days. The only other absentees through injury are Tommie Hoban (ankle) and Nyron Nosworthy (Achilles).

Bristol Rovers face Championship side Watford in the first round of the Capital One Cup without nine first-team players because of injury.

The entire bench was made up of under-20s for Saturday's defeat against Exeter in League Two, and the same line-up is expected again on Tuesday.

Watford have a clear bill of health following Saturday's win at Birmingham.

Only Nyron Nosworthy (Achilles) and Tommie Hoban (ankle) remain sidelined through injury.

VIEWS FROM THE TRAINING GROUND:
Bristol Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol:

"It's a game even our most staunch supporter won't expect us to win, but the beauty of football is we just might.

"We'll have a band of supporters who want to see their team do well, and they will also want to see how good Watford are.

"For everyone connected to Bristol Rovers, it's a very good game to be involved in."

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

•Watford had won eight successive meetings with Bristol Rovers before a 1-1 League Cup draw (which they lost on penalties) in August 2011.
Bristol Rovers

•Rovers have not kept a clean sheet in 16 League Cup ties over 12 years.
Watford

•The Hornets have scored in 14 successive games at Bristol Rovers in all competitions.

•Only once in their last nine first-round matches have Watford failed to progress - the 2011 defeat on penalties against Rovers.

•Watford have lost just one of their last five League Cup matches on the road.
