    Absolutely.

But as it became a pissing contest with plenty of abusive language banded about we decided to close it. Especially because it had nothing to do with Leicester City.

It quickly became a 7 or 8 page thread. Everyone had a chance to give their opinion and most did.

If there was abusive language you should keep your lot under better control because we don't go in for that sort of stuff. ;)

You seem to have missed a point there somewhere. What else would they be expected to do with players their scouts around the world have recommended - send them to this Walsh guy so someone else can sign them?

I guess then that is your honest interpretation - it did not seem especially abusive to me but was two sets of fans with different points of views. not606 could do with more not less inter-club discussion -and inevitably a small amount of that can be less than ultra polite. I am sure those of your fellow fans who posted there must have felt it had something to do with them - if only from an FFP perspective. Closing threads should really be a last resort in my opinion for when they are out of control - withering and dying is the normal death of a thread. Glad you still want to discuss it on our uncensored forum though

Not sure the topic in question has anything to do with Leicester city, or any other club than Watford to be honest, but every man and his dog wants to chip in their 'two bobs worth' based on uninformed journalistic articles written to sell a paper. What's the saying "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story"?

Here is another saying for all you uneducated morons that think working within the rules is cheating! "There's no educating the uneducated".

I wouldn't worry too much about the Leicester fans their attention will turn away from Watford within the next couple of months and all their effort will be channelled towards trying to get their manager sacked.

My question is how much are these players getting paid by Watford?

With FFP in place, Watford's wage budget must be tiny, so how on earth can you afford to pay the wages for these players?

Regardless of whether or not the transfers are breaking rules or immoral or whatever, some dodgy business is going on to ensure that your club doesn't have to adhere to the same rules as everyone else.

Interesting that you don't have a response.

These players are good enough that they will be on the higher end of Championship wages, so it begs the question how Watford can afford to pay them without breaking league rules.

Why does there have to be dodgy business going on? Any club whose wage structure is smaller than that of your club's isn't necessarily working outside of the rules.

I thought that it was fairly widespread knowledge that players from the European mainland and beyond will play here for less money than local players - apparently not it would seem.

Well they didn't give us a special briefing on this so we don't know either. However all the transfers have been approved by the league, UEFA and FIFA so I think unlikely there is a hidden wage arrangement. In any case FFP is not a wage cap there are other things to consider like owners investment etc so can't just base it on guessed wage levels.

My response is that I have tried to argue with you shaven headed thugs from north of Wakefield over the years until I am blue in the teeth and have got nowhere with reason and facts. With the possible exception of fans from Lancashire, you lot are the most bigoted, ignorant, violent and thoroughly nasty specimens I have come across in the football world. I leave the arguments to those Watford fans (like BB and ofh) who can be bothered to try to instill some sense into you lot.

I would like to apologise to those Horns fans who live in Lancs & Yorks - it must be awful for you.......

Marko, we have an ammount of money to spend just like all clubs. I have no idea what the figure is but I could guess - we have sold over 12000 season tickets and have the money the television will share out, then there is any prize money from last season as well. The players all came for free transfers and we do not need to discuss the rights or wrongs of that here. Whatever is left from the incomes and purchase of players can be spent on salaries. Of course there are other things tospend money on but that is the basic equation as I see.

If the income is 100 and we spend 20 on club expenses then 5 on buying players we have 75 for salaries. If the income and the club expenses are the same and 30 on players there is only 50 for salaries.

I am sure someone will now give a much better explaination. Where Watford gain in the FFFP is getting the footballers for little cost and I am sure this new scheme will cut the silly prices for footballers between English clubs.

That is precisely what the opposition fans do want to discuss ak!!!

The more we try to justify how our club is run, the more the opposition fans think we have something to hide and that, in some way, we are "cheating".

Why bother though? Let them think what they like and fester on!

Steve Walsh is our head scout and he used to be Chelsea's. He recommended those players to Mourinho <ok>

Couldn't agree with you more Vic - they are just wind up merchants - they have no more idea than we do of the wages these players earn and just guess they are "top earners" to suit their pathetic arguments - why bother to try to reason with them?

I did get that bit actually. :)

What I didn't get though, was the inference that our scouting system/staff were somehow inferior in comparison...

All that is necessary for ignorance to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Or words to that effect <laugh>

Well I am sure if we are cheating and breaking the FFP rules we will be found out and the appropriate penalties handed out. Somewhat ironic coming from a fan of a club once owned and taken into admin by Ken Bates...

If you look at the squad we have there a quite a few players from the academy which will drop the average considerably compared to the likes of Leicester and your mob who have very few players from your academy.

Are your mob still paying out the likes of Mills, Viduka, Kewell and all the other high earners that nearly put you out the league!
