Glen Keeley's away to M'boro approx 1977 was a good own goal, header from edge of our box on cross from free kick, was a beaut as well. If my memory serves me right.

He took it very well to be fair.
Glenn was a star, Gordon Lee said so himself.

Even Titus would have been proud of this one.
I'm sure we were 3 - 1 down going into injury time and still drew.

Of all the seriously bad players I can remember since the early 70's onwards, the one that sticks out for me is dear old.

    Titus Bramble..............

    or was it Titus Bumble

Did you forget? Titus tried the exact same thing, albeit with a flying volley.

Unfortunately for titus, Shay was ready for it and headed it over the bar

A long distant cousin married John Cornwall, before my time but a few people have mentioned their thoughts to me...my thoughts he played in the same midfield as gazza end of lol.

Best was a useful player. He wanted to leave though so couldn't really say it was a mistake. Fair play to him, he wanted to play. It was a mistake not replacing him.

No mention of Geremi? Mourinho was right about his legs of a forty-year-old.

Nor any of Alan Smith's mediocrity for a few years.

    Stephen Ireland.

The thing with Best is he was a selfless partner. Good for the other striker.

Also seemed underrated at both being in the right place at the right time or creating something for himself. Used to love seeing him pick it up with back to goal turn a defender with a sharp little flick and fire a first time shot

It was a shame it couldn't have worked out here for Leon Best, I liked him and thought he plenty to offer.

The only downside was his fitness.
Too many injuries, bad ones at that have blighted his career.

Compared to other strikers we've had and paid good money for like Stephane Guivarc'h and Jon Dahl Tomasson, he was class.

I've changed my mind on the worst player. It has to be Guivarc'h. World Cup winner and a complete expensive waste of space.

I watched something on Football Focus (I think) about Leon Best, where at youth levels he was untouchable. A scout or ex-coach said Besty would ask where he'd like the ball to be put (top left, middle right) and he'd just do it, time and time again. They thought at the time he'd be a World beater but it was the pace and fitness that just didn't improve enough to make it.

Back on topic....Shola. Fcking useless. :1980_boogie_down:
