I'm paying £98 a month for SKY TV, SKY Broadband and Phone line. I lack confidence to phone them up to get a better offer :(

But tomorrow I will give it a go.

Thanks for the offer :) I really hate phones and ringing someone up, I get really nervous and anxious for some reason. I told myself I will ring them this weekend lol.

But I will tomorrow because I really can't afford to be paying that much and it has to be done.

The thing that you have to keep in your mind drunky when you ring them is that once they give the equitment it basically costs them nothing to keep you, so if they put you on a cheap deal it basically in their pocket, stick to your guns you will be surprised at what you can get, rule of thumb is the lowest of the lowest on the phones has authority to give a certain amount of 50% off deals.

I'm sure they will be doing everything they can to keep me, and it's all I want really, just a discount.

Easier enough for most people, but I'm just weird lol.

I have ZERO empathy for Sky, they are one of the most ruthless, commercially driven firms that there is.

    Go for it!

Pfft I fail at negotiations lol.

Only got 25% off and removed some channels I don't watch, I even threatened to switch to BT and he actually didn't try and stop me and gave me my mac code I need to change lol. I should really have played hard ball and said I wanted to leave.

Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not going through with it.

I know if I did say I wanted to cancel it, they will get in touch with you when it ends and offer a better deal.

You'll have to let me know how you get on, I'm still not on a contract so I can always pluck up the courage and try again.

Virgin never really worried Sky as a competitor, but with BT targeting sport (one of Skys jewels) will be interesting to see the offers come.

Quick update and a few tips on sky, lasy weekend we cancelled our direct debit to sky as we had paid the last bill, during the week we have been getting missed calls from an 0800 number, rang today and surprise surprise it is sky asking what they can do to keep us, i give them the answer that i want to stay on the half price deal and would you know it they agree! Just to give them the run around i have told them i have to discuss it with the missus so they are even giving me a ring back!

so the tip is, wait until you last months bill is paid then cancel your direct debit, you will get a letter through the post saying if you use box office you will recieve extra charges but it triggers the sales team to start begging you to stay and you are in the driving seat.

Btw, good result yesterday for you guys.
