It really pisses me off, when all the thick as **** pundits are all staying safe with their top 4 predictions, and how they all think Man U will win the league again. We will struggle to get top 4, even with Suarez, and no chance at all without him. So far Arsenal have been unable to buy anyone, neither have the mancs. Until Citeh sort out their mental management, I can see them doing feck all, and if Bale goes, Spurs will implode. Only Chavski look like they may be having a smooth transition. I see top 4 as a very real possibility, as long as we have some consistency. I think we have bought well, and if we don't get top 4, it will be because we threw it away. I mean all this bollocks about us not being able to compete with the others, we spend wisely, and that is something we have always done (apart from Comolli). Rodgers has his head screwed on, even though the IQ count is down in double figures. So just because we are not buying big named players, all the moron pundits think we are out of the game. With another 2 signings, and a bit of bedding in, I can see is doing very well this year, and I hope to god, we show virtually everyone, how ****ing stupid and clueless they all are!!!
I've said since day one of the summer window that our transfers will prove to be bargains - Aspas is showing to be a really good player and Alberto is miles better than Shelvey for our system. Mignolet will hopefully continue last season's form too. With or without Suarez, I think we'll surprise alot of people who under rate our players. Not saying we'll get fourth, but it's a realistic possibility with the players we have - more so if we can strengthen our defense.
Injuries are key for us - we have few games as we don't have European football this season. If we can keep key players fit and not leak silly goals we will push for 4th in my opinion. Wouldn't it be boss if Aspas did a Michu / Jelavic and stormed his 1st season?
You know what? I'm not sure either way. I mean, I am seeing what I wanted to see; the building of a young dynamic team with smart players. I didn't project us being competitive to the point of actually getting 4th this year but when I look at this squad (with the possible additions to come) I can see them getting more points than last year, I can see those points coming from those above us unlike last year. So no pressure on this team; if they go out and play they will be the dark horses. Expectations on Arsenal and Spurs to stay above us. Sorry Tobes, honestly think you'll drop below us now. But then injuries, suspensions they all play there part with all teams. I think Chelsea for the title this year myself.
I too am quietly optimistic about our chances this year. Signings have been good, we now have a little bit of stability in terms of management and playing staff with a system that has worked well over the last 6 months or so. No Europe is a huge bonus this season, as much as I enjoy the European nights (yes, even Europa) I think it will really benefit us being able to focus on the PL. I'm tipping us to reach the semis at least of one of the domestic trophies.
Congratulations the first use of deluded this year! but your heart didn't seem to be in it if I'm honest..
It wasn't to be honest, if he had said you were going for the title I may have put a bit more heart in to it.
This year is our year! I hope we get champions league, will be disappointed if we don't get Europe period. Think it would be a failure of a season, tbh... Though I will wait to see until we get closer to mid-season.
Well if the teams other than Everton use their current buying power to full advantage then yes. That's out of our control unfortunately.
I must be the only one who thinks a Spurs side with 80+ million to invest in 3 quality players is more likely to reach top four than a Spurs side with Bale.
I agree. Over the course of a season Bale will have bad form, be banned for simulation, get injured etc. Eggs. Basket.
