I saw late last night on the talksport website that Bond had completely rubbished the idea. As per TF's new way of doing business, that surely means a done deal?! Half kidding. Bellamy dropped for a season and is now in the PL. I know that was for entirely different and valid reasons - being near family in Wales. Defoe and Austin and a fit AJ. Mouthwatering!
I am mindful of what Harry said. If Levy gets his £100m for Bale, he could even let us have Defoe on the cheap! unlikely I think.
Although it's a dreamworld there's no question about it that a combo of Defoe + Austin would score a tonne of goals.
Defoe should make QPR move - Johnson Tottenham Hotspur, Last updated: 33 minutes ago Views: 40 QPR are being tipped to make a serious offer for Jermain Defoe after Andrew Johnson urged the Spurs striker to join him at Loftus Road. Defoe should make QPR move - Johnson Defoe is apparently a top target for R's boss Harry Redknapp, who wants to be reunited with the striker who he has worked with at Spurs and Portsmouth in the past. Following the capture of Roberto Soldado, Defoe's future remains unclear at White Hart Lane and Johnson believes a move to Loftus Road would be a good opportunity for him. "We don't need to speak how big the club is, the club's massive," he told the Daily Mirror. "It's got massive backing, the chairman's been fantastic, it'll be great to give him something back. "Jermain has worked under Harry before, he's worked with a lot of the boys before. I worked with him for three or four years at England. He's a great lad. He's worked with Jermaine Jenas and few of the old Tottenham boys and there are a lot of people here who could attract him to the club. "I think when I've moved to clubs first you look and see who you do and don't know at clubs. I think that has an influence on where you choose to go in the end, so fingers crossed and hopefully Jermain will come."
I think he would be a good addition. What's with the current transfer policy, it's a blend of youth and experience. Am I missing something...
YES HE SHOULD. He would get a welcome that would lift the roof off Loftus Road (if it had one)!! This story is gathering momentum and Bond's firm denial just makes me wonder. Roll on Thursday.
So, a player who despite limited opportunities and injuries, scored 15 goals for Spurs last year and was always in the England squad when fit, won't be wanted by any other premiership teams and would accept the type of contract we are now meant to be giving? Wake up lads.
We will get him I think ... Money talks and having shouldn't worry his World cup ideas ... because England may not get there and if they do they are only championship quality anyway
Never happening To give him credit every transfer window Defoe finds himself down the pecking order yet always stays and fights for his place He can still deliver at Prem level and despite Harry's influence he would be better served going to WBA if he wants an England place next year
I'm wondering whether he'd do a shorter contract with a release clause if we don't go up in say, 2 years. If he feels he'd fit in comfortably under Harry, with old mates AJ, Jenas etc it's just about feasible
Too many heavy hints for me ... he would want to stay in London not doubt there IMO ... He wouldn't do Palace or West Ham because of Big Sam plus Ham don't need him. One season .. loads of games and if he gambled then he is back up anyway .. I think its possible
i dont rate defoe but why woulld he go back and play for harry. harry left him on the bench most of the time for spurs. why go to qpr and have to fight it out with bobby and johnson for a startin place
Not with the WC just round the corner. Some important qualifiers coming up which surely Defoe would want to be involved in.
