Went for a couple of beers in kingswood yesterday and bumped into an old class mate from cooper he was with his lad when his lad asked if I use to go to city with his dad when we was at school. I nearly spit my drink out through laughing said why would I go to bellend rd to watch that ****e .The lad looked at his dad and said you told me you followed city since you were 12 hahaha busted . The next ten mins was painful but funny as ****. This is not the first time this has happened tho was in clarry first prem season when someone made out he had followed city since school when in fact he was big Liverpool fan.

Outed. Although, if he said followed, then it might have meant 'checking their results', rather than going. But I suspect he bigged himself up to his son. Nothing worse than being made to look a dick in front of your own kids.

I guess the shame of being a City fan in the past was too much for some to handle.
personally I used to say I was a Liverpool fan during the early 80s till my grandad took me to see city.

No tommy the painful ten mins was him telling his lad he never went to city till his early twentys and how much stick he give city fans at school for supporting ****y city. But he did start taking his lad to city when he was 5 and his lad is 19/20 now so supported city longer than leeds just why lie.

Well he might've had a change of heart and wanted to set his son a good example about supporting his local club. No idea. He obviously wasn't much of a Leeds fan if he had to lie about being a City fan though.

Tommy the funny part was his lad said his dad cant say the name leeds. calls them scum and the white ****e. And brought him up to hate leeds. I left them laughing about it and his lad calling his dad a plastic city fan .

I understand what you are saying but in a strange way I am prouder that I followed and supported them in the worst of times than I am now. The feeling I have now is still pride, but also a little bit of payback to me from them for my dedication over the years. I also welcome "plastics" as everyone has to start sometime

Why not? That is exactly what he deserves.
Although someone sad enough to go around saying they were a Liverpool fan would not understand.

When I was at school, there were me and a few others that supported City. I remember wearing my 2002/3 home shirt for P.E and my teacher (Mr Sylvester, who played cricket for Yorkshire apparently) was impressed. I'll never understand why there were so many Leeds, Liverpool and Man U fans when we had a perfectly good club down the road.

I had similar experiences when i was at school. There was a few of us who supported City before the first promotion (that we saw) in 2003/04 season, and the numbers grew after that.

Some of the teachers were City fans and gave it back to the glory hunters when it came up.

There was a York fan there as well, as his brother played for them, before they got relegated to the conference.

Decent banter. Especialy when it came to talking about Fettis.

When you think about it, we were all successful sperm. Think of the billions that didn't make it. Competition for places; we truly are the kings.

I know a couple of lads who tell me I'm a plastic because I sit in the West stand. Until I remind them that I was in the West stand when they were still Liverpool fans...
