i don't see how, they probably wouldn't even be able to remember which way the track went, let alone where all the bumps are, especially if they don't watch the show that much.

They should give them like 30 minutes or an hour to learn the track and then take their fastest time from any of those laps, rather than seemingly just letting them take as much time as they like.

F1 drivers should be in something like a supercar anyway, or better yet an F1 car like that Pirelli test car they had a few years ago...or a HRT, that'll sort the men from the boys. I sure they'd get a lot more offers from drivers then, and why does it just have to be F1 drivers? i'm sure Loeb would love a go.

I thought Mark came across really well, gave Clarkson as good as he got and his answer to the question about Vettel was great. As for the lap time people really should not get in such a huff about it after all it's just a bit of fun for the drivers and for us to watch.

I think you might be missing the fun element of star in reasonably priced car, Silver.

Oh.. I agree on the other drivers though. Certainly daft to limit to F1.

I think they started letting F1 drivers take more time than celebrities for a couple of reasons. The first was it was the only way they could get Nigel Mansell to agree to come (Clarkson admitted that Mansell basically flew his jet around all day, until he knew the track inside out). The second is because the Stig had such a massive advantage in terms of track knowledge, because he did so many laps of the track, that they wanted to even up the playing field.

As for a faster car... it's a good idea but the F1 track is so short (an earlier F1 car lapped it in less than a minute) that there wouldn't be any discernible difference between the drivers' times. I think that's part of the reason they use a "reasonably priced" car. Though perhaps they could use a single-seater, as that'd be a more fair comparison.

"I suppose the clinching flaw in this game that revolves around keeping people happy is that the people provoke empathy in the same way Jeremy Clarkson provokes animalistic lust."

meh just seems like a bit of a waste of talent to me, i mean you've got them to travel all that way and agree to 'compete' with each other using the same car, which doesn't happen very often. Why not give them something a bit more lively and challenging, there's plenty of run off areas.

I think its good that they're in a normal road car as it shows just how much faster they are than 'normal' people. If they were in supercars there'd be no real comparison to highlight the extra skill an F1 driver has.

I'd imagine a lot of them probably had a good play on the Forza Motorsport to learn the track before they got there ;)

Anyway, why so serious on something that is clearly a bit of fun and causes a lot of banter amongst the F1 drivers?
