Footballs been around about 160 years but it became a lot more professional in the 90's. Before that thugs ruled on and off the pitch. We didnt win the league for 26 years either so didnt have the chance to qualify and get to the final so I fail to see what point you are trying to make. What this shows is that the Champions League was set up to be a money spinner for the clubs that haven't won their respective leagues in that time (us included).
you have to remember that the only time a competition is worth winning is when it is won by united - any other competitions are irrelevant in the years when united fail to win them remember united supporters always complaining that liverpool relied on penalty shoot-outs to win cups - no mention of this since 2008
I remember that the Carling Cup was a ''mickey mouse trophy'' untill 2009 and 2010 and then it was a ''major trophy,and their players celebrated as such.
