The fact Ferrari are considering entry WEC is a sign that, for once, F1 is doing something right. Apparently the power and efficiency of the new F1 engines means they'd need very little modification to become a decent LMP1 engine, for the first time in ages F1 engines can be considered technologically advanced. From what I can tell, engine suppliers have some scope to update the V6s between seasons but not in-season. So it would make sense for all the engine suppliers to get involved in WEC in some way, they've already invested in the engine tech so it wouldn't be too costly and would help them develop their F1 engines. I'd like to see Mercedes and Renault get involved with WEC too.
Honest discussion about the technological implications of F1 in this thread, cheese puns in another. We truly are a unique forum. (sign up, sign up)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebpkJXJ7CFo that's........disappointing to say the least, i sure hope it sounds better from the outside.
It's funny how I've only seen Lewis and Mark do that 2nd to last corner flat unlike the rest who seemed to lift... Mark ****ed up hammerhead and he still got close to Lewis' time, starting to stink a bit just to satisfy the feral Vettel haters me thinks. Soon we will have Susie Wolff set a time even faster than Vettel and the morons will believe she did it on merit as well...
It's only Top Gear... It doesn't matter if Webber is faster than Vettel in a crappy car... He's not quicker in an F1 car.... and that's where it counts.
Barichello went faster than the Stig... who went faster than Button. (twice). Yet Button has a world championship to his name and Barichello does not. This should tell you all you need to know about the Top Gear lap board. Really don't think there's a conspiracy. Wasn't Webber's initial (wet) time a 1.47 something? given that they consider rain to add 4 seconds that works out pretty much exactly.
i remember when Hamilton set that very quick time initially i pointed out the sky conditions were changing dramatically in the various shots around the lap they showed, suggesting he had done more than the usual number of laps, then someone who worked by the track essentially confirmed it saying he'd been going round like all day, it would seem that's their new policy, i imagine because just letting Hamilton do it made it completely pointless, and made it look biased towards British drivers.
If you watch Button's first lap the number plate changes at least twice, and if you watch the second game of car football they played the weather changes are all over the place. Continuity
