has changed has it.wechange the playing staff, and look what we get ,players out of contract on a free,league one players,and we HOPE they will be good enough to finish in the top 6.once again there has been no real quality players bought in ones that will give the team a real chance of moving up.M>E>says he wants prem. football ,does he know you have to invest in quality players to do this?as much asthis new squad of players will be hard working etc. they do NOT have enough about them to take the team to the top 6 and remain there.i have been a town supportersince i was a boy i am now a pensioner,and i very much doubt that unless there is major investment to the club OR,a new owner comes in,and realy does what he says ,failing this i fear i will never see the town rise above the championship.any rich people out there willing to put up the money for a once great club??
White Horse this is a very negative assessment. I agree that we do lack that bit of quality, but MM has done a sterling job. We have lost one game by one goal away from home to one of the favourites to get promoted. Even the best teams occasionally lose. I am happy to see ME tighten the purse strings, I want ITFC to be a well run successful football club. Not one that gambles it all on spending money above their worth. The footballing model is changing with the new ffp rules. Name me the players you would like to have seen us sign? Our big money signings of the recent past haven't been great and I think MM has bought in some quality players this summer. Although a bit of extra creativity would be nice
Quite a damning indictment white horse. But I have to agree with clapham. Yes we are lacking 1or 2 flair players. A 25 goal a season striker. But we've spent 50 k throughout the window and I'm confident we are gonna be pushing for play offs. Financially we need to get ourselves in a stable position and not throwing millions away to buy a player and then stupid money on wages. I'm sure we all remember finidi George. What a waste of money. What we have here is a squad that will compete. Are gonna be tough to beat and will not put us thru what we endured last season. MM is shrewd and knows what it takes to get out this league. So lets not jump on his back after one game. But white horse like you I'm sure we all want to get back to the premiership again.
no iam not jumping on any backs etc. i stand by my thread ,we have made no big signings ,because we have no major investment in the club ,nobody wants the club to move on more than myself,as we are we are just treading water.
I can not agree we are just treading water, look how far we have moved on since Christmas. Surely if we were just treading water since then we would have been relegated last season.
I think for the first time in years we are building a team that can improve year on year without adding too much each season, rather than a complete rebuild every season.
Listen, this is just one game, can understand some people being disappointed with losing to Reading, after things looked so good in the close season, but sometimes you have to give some credit to the opposition, they are allowed to win, Reading are certainly no mugs, and are one of the favourites to go back up, lets have another look after say ten matches, then we will know
