The guy literally wasnt touched, Barton stuck his leg out, the guy saw it and decided to go down as he ran by but Barton pulled his leg back and the guy fell over fresh air.

The ref got is spot on, more should be booked going down like that.

They tried to use this as proof but all it does is prove its a dive.

Literally no contact at all. The bloke is diving before he even reaches Bartons leg.

That is priceless, hilarious! <laugh>

Couple of great replies in there :emoticon-0102-bigsm

"It's a bit Blades to be honest. "

"My mate works at the FA. He says emails like this all get rolled out at the Office Party and they laugh at the internet geeks sending them."

"Sure the FA secretary will laugh her tits off when she reads that, then get back to her Facebook. "

"I wrote one last year complaining about the electronic substitution boards. Too pixely."

"I like to poke girls."

<cheers>

It just proves that you see what you want to see sometimes.

The two planks on TFLS show said there was "contact" so "they have every right to go down". No they dont, that is diving and a yellow card as the player is trying to con the ref.

Redknapp, Bond, and I understand Barton, also said it was a pen. How dare they contradict you Marvin!

Where did you get that? Redknapp and Bond have just said that they understand Smith, as they have feel the same way many times. Arry claims he didnt saw that incident at all and Barton havent said anything in my knowledge.

Thats what Harold and Bond said on the radio last night which I heard with my own shell like ears, and Bond referred to barton. Harold said "I didn't see it but it was a penalty" Make sense of that if you can.

Who is Smith?

Yep, Harry said on the radio that he hadn't seen it, but "someone" had told him it was a penalty. BBC reported that Joey Barton thought it was a penalty "judging by his body language" Make of that what you will.

Flyer has it totally correct. Commentators on my box agreed too, a clear Dive, no Pen. Barton had put his foot up so I think he expected a pen even though any contact was minimal and from the dive. The Ref did very well there thank you! Harry, Bond - you didn't see it and know nothing!

Bond was told that and hadnt seen a replay. Same with Redknapp and it seems the BBC are now experts on body language.

The natural reaction of Barton was a shrug to think the ref had fallen for yet another dive.

Still, Redknapps opinion doesnt mean a lot while he continues to start Henry and Zamora.

No way were either of those penalties.

Traore was just running behind the attacker (more poor defending from him!), but never did anything to warrant a penalty.

And the Barton one was the player noticing the leg was there, and 'falling' over it. No chance. At no time did Barton move his leg to stop their attacker.

Ref was spot on with both - and I would be saying the same if it was the other way around.

Worked well for us last year, didn't it!

I don't think they sponsor the PL.

I'll admit most of the time at least one of those will be given because the refs seem to be "if in doubt, give it" but I'd rather see five pens not given than one where a player chooses to go down as that's cheating. Its one of my pet hates.

In the nhl, a player can punch another and if the player hits the ice, he will get the same penalty as the player who threw the punch.

I'd like to see divers get a yellow if they go down after a slap or punch too.
