I'm failing to quite grasp the concept of how a 'summer transfer thread' has suddenly developed into the Henri Lansbury appreciation society? There are players on Hughton's list of targets (far less now, than when the thread was started ) and players whose names are thrown into the mix by bored tabloid media journos.......but I seriously cannot remember HL, our one time loanee who did ok while here but didn't exactly change the course of the premier league, being on either list. We could start a Juan Mata appreciation thread, which would be much more exciting - but no closer to becoming reality, so why not discuss realistic targets / acquisitions, rather than all this "pie in the sky" nonsense?
Henri was actually at Norwich before he ever went to Arsenal. Even for his first loan spell, he was actually returning to Norwich...
so? bobby zamora was at norwich when he was a kid. should we sign him? lansbury might be good enough for the premier league one day but right now he isn't even a regular for nottingham forest so why would he waltz into our team?
although i mentioned him (i think he'd been brought up before to be fair), i do agree with irdan that powell probably isn't ready for the premier league yet.
Henri did well for us but was unable to cement a position in the championship with us. He's like Pacheco, he was great for us but we have moved on too far.
I mentioned it might be his love-child earlier. Either way, continually fighting the corner of someone so leftfield (from a NCFC point of view) is becoming a shade tiresome. Who shall we "big up" next, David Mooney? At least he played - and scored yesterday
Neither Tovinen nor Quagliarella will be coming to Norwich. Lansbury was introduced as a low cost (only cost Forest £1.2 million, a veritable bargain!), young, English alternative - one who has played in that position for England U21s (and others and who has easily been one of the shining lights of the past couple of years for the U21s) but who could play in a number of different roles. And one whose departure from Arsenal was to do with personal issues (now addressed) not primarily footballing reasons.
that's fine if you think that (i personally think quagliarella is still a possible), but lansbury isn't going to improve us, so what's the point in suggesting him? he might be good enough one day but he's far from being premier league class right now. he's not even a consistent championship player yet! it would not represent a sensible outlay* *ps. it probably sounds like i don't rate him but i do like lansbury - he did a decent job for us on loan - but he is championship standard only.
Once again I'm lost. You start by categorically stating two players who cast iron, nailed on will not be coming to Norwich. You then qualify that by telling me how much Florist paid for an ex NCFC loanee - I seriously fail to grasp a single connection between these two statements and to be quite honest, I'm starting to tire of a wum adding nothing to the thread barring an day by day analysis of an ex city loanee who has now mysteriously become an angel at a new club in a lower division. Tell someone who gives a flying **** - like Florist fans.
Can I be the first to say I don't care if we don't sign anyone else , I like the squad improvement, have got over the loss of Holty and am ready to see us battle on through another difficult season, not expecting anything more than a tough time but hopefully too see that we are confident enough and have a sufficiently improved squad to sneak a little cup run as well as survive again in the PL around mid table, but am expecting it all to be so tight some bum squeaking will be done! Having said that if Mr Bale and Mr Ronaldo are ready to make the move to Norfolk welcome boys !
Why is he a WUM for suggesting and then defending his opinion on Lansbury? He may well turn out to be but hasn't posted anything to suggest that so far - just has a different opinion to the majority of you. Anyway since I've been ignores twice I'm going to say it for a third time..we should have got Dempsey ;-)
