He played very well today. Long may it continue.

I just hope we don't get to see the Scottish Barton, you know the one ... Dumbarton.

Remind you all of this happy clapping when he has a melt down & starts head butting people & slagging the club off to all & sundry on Twitter.
There's fickle & just plain blind!!

Barton was our best player. The long diagonal pass he did to pick out Holiett in the second half was sheer class. Maybe he is on the road to redemption.

It was more interesting seeing the players that did not feature, Granero, Cesar, Remy, Taraabt what does the future hold for them.

Austin didn't have enough time to really do much but got in a couple of decent headers and he should start knocking them in with more game time.

We're definitely going to need more consistent and accurate supply to Austin if he's gonna get the goals.

We need another winger even if we sign Philips.

Don't like the bloke but if he plays & gives it everything then gets my respect. Better than the 4 or 5 (even more last season) who show no interest in playing & damage team morale even when paid ridiculous sums each week as far as I'm concerned they don't deserve to play football again.

He played well against very limited opposition, and it was just the once, lets not get carried away. It'll all go wrong at some stage that's inevitable, hard wired into his character, we are best off getting shot of him. A half decent right sided midfielder, which is what he is at best, should not be that hard to find.

SWP made him look like Cruyff after he was substituted though.

They all are bit limited opposition here in championship mate. JB is perfect player on this level because we dont need any lazy world beaters in this battle. The keyword is "fight for it" and that is the one thing Barton can do. Welcome back Joey and please stay with us at least for this season.

Sadly, this is never the case ..................... we just need to acknowledge the few moments that he can do good for us before he fcuks everything in one fell swoop.
Fact is, a leopard never changes his spots ............. Joey is a time bomb and will explode, make no mistake. We just need to get what we can out of him beforehand.
If you think I'm being cold hearted about it, remember all the comments this guy has made about our club over the past 12 months or so.
He is only using us to fill time and we should do likewise.

Joey played a blinder yesterday and more importantly was the motivator that we needed. Yeah, he's got his faults, but had we kept hold of him last season, who knows where we could be now.

Yep, he (and others) showed the kind of tenacity yesterday that was sadly lacking last season.

Lets not forget that yes Barton screwed up and lost his rag in a very important game. But lets also not forget that it was Tevez that swung at Barton that sent him over the edge. Also if it had been any one of our other players, lets say Derry who had reacted like that, would people have treated him the same?

I don't think Barton expected the reception he got yesterday, and I think we could see a different Barton to the one we've seen previously.

Don't get me wrong, he's still a bit if a prat, I'm just trying to put a bit if perspective on the situation. But yesterday, not having had any sort of pre season and not having played with the team for 15 months, he came out and ran non stop and for me was man of the match. Having seen how the fans backed him yesterday, I think give a few more weeks and he'd be a rock that no team could break.

Sorry Igor, but that is wrong on every level. if the opposition is limited we don't need to pay someone £70k week to try hard and run around a lot, shouting at his team mates. Karl Henry does enough shouting (and very little else on yesterdays evidence). There are plenty of others who will try just as hard and be grateful for the opportunity, and who also won't be a ticking time bomb.

That's the point. Time bomb, spots, leopard, it worries me if we become reliant on him
