Combined Swansea & Cardiff X1

I may be wrong here but I thought Welsh teams weren't allowed to play in Europe via the english system until after they were stopped from entering via the Welsh cup.

 

Thats why Swansea and Cardiff can play in europe as we don't compete in the Welsh Cup of Welsh Premier. We qualify via the English League system, we both play in.

We have always been able to qualify via England. When we finished 6th under Toshack we came close that way but as we won the Welsh cup that year it made the league place irrelevant because back then the CWC was considered more high profile than the UEFA cup

Given their far greater catchment area, that attendance is pretty poor for a club on a "high".

The only Cardiff players worthy of being anywhere near our lineup are Caulker, their new striker and Whittingham.

 

That's my point. Wits isn't in the same league as Kim bo. You can have this thread and most Cardiff fans would pick mostly Swansea players as they're proven at PL level. Same way Wigan fans wouldn't have swapped your promotion 11 for their pl 11 when you came up. This will be a much fairer thread if done in January or May. I'd still expect Swansea to have the lions share but there are players who'll make the step up.

 

As for taking the piss out of a preseason friendly attendance.......

They're glorified training sessions and its interesting to see a few lads who don't get much of a chance and that's about it.

You're probably right, but I think come the end of the season we'd still occupy most of the lineup.

 

I would agree with you Cherry - but many Cardiff fans seem to believe that Malmo were useless rather than we were good on the night, so I guess that they wouldn't agree with us!

A few pointed out that no know really knows what they are in PL terms but you lot are looking very sharp and we'll soon see how your preseason form will transfer to the PL and I'm not surprised you're confident ��
