I think there was similar concern heading into 11/12 with Van Persie as our main striker. I think the posts were running along the lines of "Wenger must be stupid thinking that Van Persie could be top scorer. He doesn't know what he is doing, RVP will be injured before Christmas and we will be up **** creek."

 

Think you may find it was because it was to do with Gerrards testimonial as well, the crowd were pumped up and they had a right to be.

Also, you can hardly blame the fans for trying, they want him to perform well for that game and booing him ain't going to get him pumped up is it?

There is nothing wrong with showing your appreciation, especially when there have been very little from him in terms of quotes etc.

 

Rodgers talking about how Bale has been valued in nine figures and that he and Suarez were the best players, so Suarez can't be valued at half that . . . anyway, what he's really saying is that Suarez is for sale at the right price. He's not going to stay at Liverpool and it doesn't look like Real are coming in for him. This one is going to go to the wire with Arsenal and Liverpool waiting until somebody forces the other's hand.

 

With Giroud's abysmal showing today, i think Suarez's price just went up a bit.

And in principal if there was some system of valuing players based on their talent and capabilities, Bale's price wouldn't be 2.5 times that of Suarez, but that's not how it works.

Jack was just bigging up Suarez on BT, saying that big name signings bring confidence and excitement to the team and that he would love to have Suarez at Arsenal.

You feel if we don't pull this deal off, it is not just going to be the fans that will be very disappointed.

 

Sounds like the players would like to see Suarez in an Arsenal shirt as well as the fans

And Giroud saying he expects a new face to compete with up front.

We've made the space in the squad and have the money.

Wenger says we are still in for him and trying to make something happen but is also working on other targets.

If it happens it will bea big lift for the club, great way to mark a new era.

 

I don't think I've seen our players put so much pressure on Wenger before to sign new players. Hopefully it ends well, you can't help but feel that it might in some way offend him.
