Gareth Barry IMO is the most over rated midfielder in the premiership!

What does Barry do that gets him in the England squad, he is so basic and theres much more talent than him could play for their country, im not slating the player but i think hes definately overrated.

Do you remember when Phil Neville played a blinder against Arsenal in th 2002-03 season in the centre of the park? He was then played there repeatedly and performed poorly, as it was not his best position. He was eventually sold to Everton. Well, the same happened with Barry, who is a solid left back deployed in midfield.

So hes better in defence? i thought he came through as a midfielder, anyway i still think he could offer more and being at Man City wont help, prob should have joined Liverpool.

Every Liverpool fan I talk to says the same thing about him, namely "Thank Christ we didn't sign him"

And to think that the genius known as Rafa wanted to sell Alonso, and replace him with Barry. And you will still find the odd Liverpool fan trying to defend that one.

Seconded. Funny that Capello thought he was the answer to all England's problems in the World Cup but he was far and away so out of his depth it was untrue. He cost England that game against Germany and now Capello has saw sense and is starting to deploy Parker there instead. Barry doesn't do a whole lot of anything. For City he is carried more often than not by de Jong's brilliance. He will make way soon when City are in the Champions League more often and bigger and better players will be signed.

Er, they already did. 3rd place is automatic qualification.
They won't get past that with Barry though.

I think they could get out of the groups but I can't wait to see them come across a European power house. They would get slaughtered. In fact looking at this years Last 16 I reckon they could only beat 2 of them over two legs. Possibly Schalke and Copenhagen. They may squeeze past Marseille but away from home in Europe they seem to struggle quite bad.
