I'd never say that about the wonderful Balding filly.

This is such a great competitive race really looking forward to it!

Edit - hot snap is my selection quite confident of a place minimum

J Wonder won well at Newmarket and she might find enough improvement to win the Cheveley Park.

The family traits still seem to be strong in Sky Lantern's family! I looked after her grand-dam Negligent while working at Darley years ago and she was exactly the same: constantly on her toes and eager to take a chunk of flesh out of every passing human!

Mick Channon calls him Maggot for a reason!

Sky Lantern looks to be in a real mood. If she runs badly I wouldn't be surprised to hear the old "she's come into season" line rolled out.

Nice to see HOT SNAP confirm her earlier promise. As with many of them, she'd have finished closer given a clear run.

Sky Lantern's tongue was hanging out some way from home, even with a clear run she wouldn't have won. What a messy race, 20/1 and 33/1 winner and runner up!

Are we to presume that you and BostonianBob are Clark Gable look-a-likes? Hope your computer is frosties-proof (they are bad for the teeth btw).

Two fillies they picked out as not looking good and they came 1st and 3rd. Good judges on Ch 4 then.

A bit disconcerting to see Sky Lantern getting worked up in the parade ring before the big race; I am sure she was not edgy before the 1000 Guineas. Whilst there was an unusually large field (perhaps because there is no standout ten furlong filly/mare so far this season) a large proportion of them did not seem to have any obvious winning chance. I am surprised that the money continued to pour on Hot Snap as the punters got to see her and she looked very light.

They went a fair lick (and nearly the wrong course!) and in the straight Just The Judge looked the first one beaten and never got into it. Impossible to say what happened with Sky Lantern, switched inside and then had nowhere to go; debatable whether she had anything left in the tank even if the split had come. Congratulations to William Buick on Winsili at a very generous 20/1 although I think her pre-race antics would have put punters off if she had been amongst the favourites. If Thistle Bird is a reliable yardstick then this was not a great renewal.
