    Arsenal fans are beginning to sound like spuds fans. Maybe it is all that cross breeding I don't know :). On a more serious note, Wright does have a point about meeting Suarez's ambition (in the medium to long term at least!). Even we were to sign him this term, how long before he starts to court the tier 1 teams in Europe and in the premiership? If we assume one of his reasons for wanting a transfer is his desire to play in the champions league, then how long before he is on the move again to a team with a more realistic chance of actually winning either the premiership or champions league?

    I do not profess to know how ambitious Suarez is or know what motivates him, it also does not matter what Wrighty says, I am certain it will have no bearing on what Suarez ultimately decides. However, I feel it will not be long before he is on the move again.

    He's an Arsenal legend and I love and respect him for that.... I remember when I first started following Arsenal back in primary school...he was our hero...who remembers those Nike adverts from the very early 90s titled "Gary who?"...after Wrighty beat the big eared ****** to the golden boot. Also the famous BMW partnership after Bergkamp joined...and Cliff Bastins record.

    As a pundit he's no Smith or Dixon....but known more for his clowning around ala Merson...in short a muppet.

    As a pundit I feel he often speaks from the heart, I think his brutal honesty most times does not sit well some of our fans. I actually like his candidness when he talks about the Arsenal, you can hear the fan and the passion in him. He cannot be ecstatic with the goings on our great club and how far behind we have fallen. There are a lot of ex-players towing the party line, who will come out and say how fine and dandy we are.... I have to respect their opinion.

    @omogooner

    I dont give a **** if he wants to use us as a stepping stone - if we get 2-3 top seaons out of him and then he moves on (for a large amount decided as a release clause in his contract to avoid this situation liverpool are in) i'd be fine with that. If in those 2-3 years we manage to get a suqad to the point of winning the big competition he may stay or may leave but we are prepared either way.

    As long as you know what you are getting you shouldn't get burnt by players like this.

    He is getting paid to behave exactly the way he is. That's why people like Ian Wright, he speaks the language of the common people eg. Sun, Mirror, Sport etc. Personally I'm not a big fan of his but he does make the odd point. He is an Arsenal legend who is pained to see his beloved team not being competitive. Does he play up to sell himself, maybe. But as far as I've heard him speak, he's always said these kind of things.

    As i said earlier - he has always been quite critical of Arsenal and so are the people he goes to see the games with. The group of them are quite negative but at the same time big fans.

    His comments in public i think are not always entirely his views but in line with what his job is currently. He needssoem controvertial opinions, he needs to be seen as slightly more neutrel etc...

    This is exactly what people in this thread are missing. He speaks like a true fan, with proper passion. Yes he does go a little over the top at times and needs to curb his bias, but that's what you get with ol Wrighty.

    I guess we should see him coming, unlike some badge kissing "mercenaries" who have left us for half their worth in recent seasons. I agree, the contract has to be as tight as a fowl's behind! I will be over the moon if we can get him.... If at the end of 2 seasons he feels let down then that is his problem. We have lost better players than him!

    "Pained"? Look how Liverpool have fallen in the last 25 years...their legends have an equal if not more reason to be "pained" yet throughout this saga they've made statements bigging up their club...with the objective of making Suarez stay... ie help their old team.

    We seem to have an endless list of players ready to slate the club at the drop of a hat (including Adams).. ****ing plonkers. It's bad enough the jeering from the likes of talk****e (jibes about 4th place trophy by yesterday's commentators) but ex players seem to feel they need to join the band wagon.

    If there were similar levels of speculation about Rooney joining Liverpool would the move represent a move up for the player? No. Will Hansen etc advise Rooney not to join Liverpool saying it's not a move up for him, in the interest of appearing neutral? No. They will be far more diplomatic about the last point...ie not saying anything to potentially discourage the player.

    The short of this is...Ian Wright isn't the brightest tool in the box who has come up with unhelpful self contradictory drivel that some are defending by dressing up as common fan sentiment.
