Oh I promise you, twaddle says pelanty as well. He is the worst commentator in the history of commentators.
I can't see why people are so bothered by **** commentators and pundits. I hardly ever even notice who's commentating and if they talk **** I usually find it funny/argue with the telly.
I switch em off and it makes a massive impact. I am always amazed by the amount of people who base their judgement of how good a player / game has been on what commentators say. If you switch em off and actually watch you get a much different opinion.
There should somehow be an option where you can turn off commentary and just have the atmosphere and crowd noise. That would be great.
That's probably because most commentators are ****. They evolved their style from the days of radio where relating which player had the ball and what he did with it was genuinely informative for people listening at home who couldn't see a thing. But when you are seeing the action with your own eyes and you know the names of the players, most of them add very little value. Cricket commentators offer far more insight and analysis, i.e. telling us stuff we don't know or is not obviously apparent. Motson has been the worst commenator in the history of the game- no analysis or wisdom, just a a whiny statto using his Rothman's. Unfortunately millions now believe that's what a good commentator is. The most popular game in the country has the lowest standard of commentator/pundit.
I agree with that but then other people complain that too many commentators are interested in little side stories rather than stating what's happening.
Perhaps they are just dimbos who are comfortable with the Motson style of commentating " .....player x......player y...player z.....GOAL! oh I say what a goal that was!" etc
Another distinguishing feature of our football commentators is their fawning reluctance to criticise foul play, blatant organised cheating (simulation, appealing for pens, holding, hounding of refs etc etc) for fear off offending the rich and powerful in the game.
I can't be the only childish git that giggled when they said "Trott's got the runs" in commentary today.
