Football League celebrates 125 yrs this season. Coventry and Hearts in trouble. YEP has a feature that reminds us of the negative way we were treated by the League in 2007. Got me wondering which clubs actually supported us in opposing the 15 point deduction. Were Cov one of them?
Bradford Burnley Colchester Darlington Ipswich Nottingham Forest Sheffield United Sheffield Wednesday Plymouth QPR Stockport Stoke Swindon Watford Wrexham
Dunno, but I had wondered exactly the same, would be interesting to find the answer to that. I know the (owner of?) Gillingham, was vociferous against us, don't recall who else.
In Millwall's case that's fair enough, you just wanted to finish above us for one season. But we were still just to good for you.
Quite surprised that a few of those are clubs that can be considered the "big boys" of the football league, the likes of Forest and Wednesday
These 15 clubs voted against the 15 point penalty, but not necessarily against some form of sanction. 7 of these 15 clubs voted for no sanction whatsoever, not sure which ones but Forest are strongly believed to be one (in other words, they're a proper football club) Ridsdale voted against Leeds United
So he caused it, then voted to have the club punished for his wrongdoing? There's a special circle of hell dedicated just to him.
Was surprised by a few names on the list but fair play to those clubs. More interested in those clubs currently in the mire who didn't support us at the time. And as for Risdale!!! what a f@@@er.
Sorry to dig up an old thread but, reading about the troubles for Bury and Bolton, I searched for which clubs supported Leeds during our troubles and this popped up. There but for the grace of God.......... I feel sorry for the fans of 2 of the oldest clubs in the League but..........
Is it just me that doesn’t give a toss what happens to any other club these days. We had to sort our own **** out and are still doing so aided mainly by a loyal fan bases continued support. 20k plus even in league one. Compare that to the way fans have abandoned their teams after one season out of pl. I’m thinking the likes of stoke and hull with half empty grounds
I don't give a toss about other clubs either, but it is kind of satisfying when you hear of some who are really struggling and look on the list of clubs who supported us and see they're not on it.
The worst besides Paul Sculley at Gillingham who was in the process of selling their ground so Tesco could build a new supermarket, was the twat at Doncaster who got a free ground as the council built it and owned it so in effect he was subsidised by taxes. Also there was the twat at Swansea who was also getting a free stadium after selling the Vetch and yes the same guy who shafted us for Dan James
I know it's easy to stick the knife in to the clubs who didn't back us. I remember those dark days of not knowing if we even had a club to support. There was talk of Farsley Celtic getting a few thousand extra fans through the turnstile! Sod the chairmen and business ****ers. They will come and go! It's the fans who I feel sorry for! The ones still turning up week in week out.
