I think CH needs to work out how to play RVW in the team, with GH it's obvious as we saw last night but what kind of formation would suit him best? And who would be best to bring him service? He just didn't get any goal scoring opportunities last night and as someone has already said that's not his fault!
I think with fine tuning we can get it to work I think in the next game we will see a longer period of hooper and RVW together with better supply My overall feeling from last night is we are getting there and once it clicks I think it will be special Fer looks great, Redmond looks class, Olsson looks like he'll make left back his own, turner came back and did well. All moving in the right direction. No Coldplay and rocking in a dark corner from me.
CP? Last night hooper played up front alone then RVW came on and they played together for about 15 mins then hooper went off
sorry Sporting CP, who did he play along side? And what formations did they use, were they very different from ourselves in terms of formations etc?
The draw was also a fair result. Braga upped their game and played at greater pace in the second half as City players tired. Hooper looked lively and a threat throughout his 60 minutes and Fer was the core of play in midfield, breaking up play, excellent distribution with quality passing which stood out throughout his 60 minutes. City didn't look the same after he went off though Howson didn't do badly. RvW didn't get a sniff of a chance as City tired. No discredit to him, IMO.
I think he was up top alone but he's played plenty of attacking roles in his time I believe Hughton said at the press conference not to label him as an out and out forward, maybe a clue?
In the Netherlands RvW played more as a second striker; when he moved to Sporting he played more frequently on his own up front, and said recently that that was his preference. The reality is that both RvW and Hooper can play up front on their own, or as second striker behind the front man. So in time, as I've said on another thread, I would expect to see them playing together and interchanging (much as Rooney and Tevez used to do when paired together for Man Utd).
Ruddy Martin-bassong-turner-Olsson Fer Redmond - howson - snodgrass Wolfswinkel Hooper This I would like to see
Switch Snods and Redmond around and I wouldn't mind that line up. I'd rather Wes than Howson just for a bit of creativity though. As good as Fer is I think it's likely there will be someone alongside him, even if it isn't another strong physical presence.
Yeah switch the wings obviously Hoolahan can make the difference I don't know if it's best to start him or have him come on he's such an effective player but so hard to fit in
I'd like to see how he plays alongside Fer in the deeper role. Trap has played him in that role for Ireland so it could work.
The article below includes a video of Hooper's goals last night: http://hereisthecity.com/2013/08/03/video-norwich-new-boy-hooper-bags-brace-on-debut/?
As Fer is a box2box midfielder and likes to bomb forward were too lightweight infront of the defence. Don't have a clue why Johnson is being dismissed so much, he was 3rd in player of the season. We were up in arms at the thought of him leaving to Swansea. It will be Johnson and Fer infront of the back 4. -----------------------Ruddy-------------------- Martin------Bassong--------Turner-----Olsson ----------------Fer----------Johnson----------- Snodgrass---------------------------Pilkington ----------------Van Wolfswinkel--------------- ---------------------Hooper-------------------- Subs: Bunn, Whittaker, Bennett, Howson, Redmond, Hoolahan, Becchio
