Been training with us all week, not an exciting signing but he can play all along the back four and its just a one year deal.
Rangers set to snap up Baird on a free Chris Baird 02/08/2013 By David McIntyre Former Fulham man Chris Baird is set to join QPR. The Northern Ireland international, 31, looks likely to be offered a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months. Baird, a free agent after being released by Fulham at the end of last season, trained with his new team-mates on Friday and is expected to formally complete his move next week. He made more than 100 Premier League starts during a six-year spell at Craven Cottage, having previously played for Southampton. “He’s a good pro and I like him. He’s a good free transfer,” said Rangers boss Harry Redknapp. “He can play right-back, left-back, centre-half or in midfield. I’ve always liked him.” QPR have also made an offer to midfielder Gary O’Neil, who has been training with the club. The 30-year-old recently left West Ham when his contract expired and previously played under Redknapp at Portsmouth. “They’re good lads who can come into this division and do well,” Redknapp explained. “I like Gary. I had him at Portsmouth and he’s a good player, good lad, can play in a few positions and knows what he’s doing.” http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/rangers-set-to-snap-up-baird-on-a-free
Reminds me of Monty Python's, Doug and Dinsdale Piranha? Presenter: Another man who had his head nailed to the floor was Stig O' Tracey. Interviewer: Stig, I've been told Dinsdale Piranha nailed your head to the floor. Stig: No, no. Never, never. He was a smashing bloke. He used to give his mother flowers and that. He was like a brother to me. Interviewer: But the police have film of Dinsdale actually nailing your head to the floor. Stig: Oh yeah, well - he did that, yeah. Interviewer: Why? Stig: Well he had to, didn't he? I mean, be fair, there was nothing else he could do. I mean, I had transgressed the unwritten law. Interviewer: What had you done? Stig: Er... Well he never told me that. But he gave me his word that it was the case, and that's good enough for me with old Dinsy. I mean, he didn't want to nail my head to the floor. I had to insist. He wanted to let me off. There's nothing Dinsdale wouldn't do for you. Interviewer: And you don't bear him any grudge? Stig: A grudge! Old Dinsy? He was a real darling. Interviewer: I understand he also nailed your wife's head to a coffee table. Isn't that right Mrs O' Tracey? Mrs O' Tracey: Oh, no. No. No. Stig: Yeah, well, he did do that. Yeah, yeah. He was a cruel man, but fair
very good player and servant for ffc, was not the flair type that jol like, he can play very well as a centre back, and midfield, and nips in with a couple of goals, good at free kicks, and was a good prem player, he could sign in the championship, and could become a crowd favourite, but don't play him as a right back as sanchez did and nearly ruined him, cos he is not the quickest, very solid player and versatile, could be your unsung hero
with chris baird when we beat juventus 4-1, can I say that again when we beat juve 4-1 we had no murphy so baird stepped in his place and ran the show, probably his best ever game, highly thought among ffc fans
QPR boss reveals why he wants Fulham player By Paul Warburton Aug 2 2013 QPR boss Harry Redknapp reckons that buying English speaking players will increase the clubâs chances of bouncing back to the Premier League. Chris Baird (pic) is the next likely homegrown acquisition, with the former Fulham player training at Hoops since Thursday, and on the cusp of signing a one-year deal. Harry had his tongue partially in the corner of his mouth, but was serious the type of play anywhere stoical character as represented by the Northern Ireland international was the order of the day at Loftus Road. The manager joked: âChris keeps passing to his own team, which is a new game weâre trying to play this year. âHe can play left-back, right-back, centre-half midfield; heâs a bright type. He only came in Thursday but Iâve always liked him. âThe players Iâve signed so far all speak the same language. You say âgood morningâ and they say âgood morningâ back. I want lads who want to be here and with that attitude.â Read more: Fulham Chronicle http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2013/08/02/82029-33685075/#ixzz2asBdkvvs
“Chris keeps passing to his own team, which is a new game we’re trying to play this year." “The players I’ve signed so far all speak the same language. You say ‘good morning’ and they say ‘good morning’ back."
Classic Harry quotes but shows the direction we're going. Sam Allardyce did the same at West Ham when they went down, builds solid team spirit which is something we've lacked in the big league...
You can see the type of solid players Harry is bringing in, it's gonna be HIS team this season and we're moving in the right direction...
