Digger played in a friendly for his old club earlier today. please log in to view this image “Former Welsh international Simon Davies played 40 minutes for Solva FC tonight in their game with St Ishmaels at Maes-Y-Mor. Davies, 33, made a surprise appearance as a second half substitute as the home side ran out 5-0 winners. The former Welsh international, who played for Solva as a junior, turned up just before kick off. Many assumed he was there as a spectator, but then emerged from the dressing room in full Solva kit and took his place on the sidelines. Solva were playing Tish in the semi final of the Mike Jones Memorial Tournament, and as the competition is not officially sanctioned, and Davies is currently unaffiliated after being released by Fulham, he is elligible to play. Solva boss Peter Cole consulted Tish stand in boss Marc Devonald who said he had no problem with the 58 capped Welsh international appearing in the second half. Davies came on to the right side of midfield with 40 minutes remaining, with Solva already leading 3-0 thanks to goals from Scott James (2) and Gareth Thomas. Needless to say, the former Fulham player stood out head and shoulders above the rest as he sprayed the ball about in midfield. Solva eventually ran out 5-0 winners, with Sean Ellison and Gary Reynolds grabbing second half goals, but there were ironic cheers late on when Davies put a 25 yard free kick into the wall. "I really enjoyed it," he said afterwards. "Believe it or not I was a bit nervous before I came on, but it was nice to be back playing on the ground I started off on as a junior." Simon Davies is, and always has been, a class act all the way. There are plenty of players in his situation whose egos would stop them doing something like this. Legend.
Looks like Chris Baird is going to QPR. Can fully understand from Redkapp's point of view and I guess Chris has to put his own commitments first. But wish it wasn't so. please log in to view this image "QPR boss Harry Redknapp reckons that buying English speaking players will increase the club’s chances of bouncing back to the Premier League. Chris Baird is the next likely homegrown acquisition, with the former Fulham player training at Hoops since Thursday, and on the cusp of signing a one-year deal." I'm surprised that the likes of Cardiff, Hull and Palace haven't approached Bairdinho - a good, hardworking pro with Premier League experience seems an ideal signing for a newly promoted side. Still with him joining Bobby and AJ, if QPR do get promoted, it'll be with the bulk of the Fulham side that our friends from the QPR board were so quick to malign over the last couple of seasons. Good luck Bairdinho.
After their initial interest waned, and then some rumours about him going to Reading or Standard Liege, it looks as though Mladen Petric is West Ham bound after all. At least Sascha Riether will be happy that his buddy is back in town. " West Ham are close to completing the signing of former Fulham striker Mladen Petric on a free transfer. The 32-year-old Croatian has been without a club since leaving the Cottagers in the summer after his one-year contract expired. Petric scored five goals in 23 appearances for Fulham. West Ham are waiting to discover how long striker Andy Carroll will be out for after he injured his foot in training on Monday." Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24028953

Oh no he's not - Former Fulham defender Chris Baird rejects QPR offer for move to rivals Reading Rs boss Harry Redknapp said: "We made him a decent offer and were hoping to get it done, then got a phone call to say he's gone to Reading" Source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/former-fulham-defender-chris-baird-2288355#ixzz2fRvOQaBF HOORAY AND GOOD LUCK BAIRDINHO
Bairdinho saw the light and rightly moved on to reading over qpr. He will be a great signing for them and I am sure will enjoy his football again. Good luck mr utility man, always remembered as part of the Europa dream
Delighted to see Bairdinho go to Reading, not least as they are my choice for the Championship in the final position prediction game I'm doing with my two lads.
