Literally the worst website I've ever been on. Written exclusively by bigoted morons who get the most basic of facts wrong. Never been on any Rangers fan-sites apart from "Follow Follow" which isn't anywhere near as moronic as MonTheHoops Even the name of this site ****s me off. "Mon" isn't even C'Mon it's a ****ing stupid bastardisation of an already bastardised word. Generally team specific fan-sites are ****ing pish anyway but this one annoys me on a whole new level. They write the kind of one-sided and outspoken paranoid nonsense that makes Celtic fans with a reasoned opinion look daft by proxy. I've really got to stop reading these ****ing brainless articles written by either paranoid half-wits or evil ****s specifically trying to get paranoid half-wits on board with their bigoted views.
please log in to view this image ****. Did you hear the Celtic fans singing "Boys of the Old Brigade" at the Hamilton game yesterday? I seriously hate the majority of Celtic fans who go to away games. Ended up leathering this boy on the way out of a Caley game two years ago, the **** was shouting "Up the Ra'" in my ear the whole game. Told him to shut the **** up and he shouted louder. After the game I saw him in a crowd of people so I got close and smacked him a cracker right in the kidney. ****ing Provo prick.
In all seriousness I'm from quite a strong Irish Republican background and I'm not ashamed of it any way or form. I don't think singing rebel songs is a problem as long as it isn't done to spite someone else. Certainly if I have to listen to the likes of Rule Britannia and God Save The Queen then others shouldn't complain about people singing Irish nationalistic songs too (Remember BOTOB is in reference to the IRA of 1918 which had a democratic majority mandate from the 1918 UK general election - the same IRA which formed Fianna Fail and has ruled Ireland for most of the last 80 years). I think a lot of Celtic fans overreact and are keen to be seen as anti Republican just to distance themselves from the minority of ned fans who spout all the sectarian ****e just to piss people off. There is happy median whereby some people can be non bigoted and a proud Irish Republican at the same time.
Hear, Hear. We should be able to sing what we want at games as long as it's not just used as a wind-up measure.
when it comes to football if you say you're a republican or a loyalist people automatically think you are a brainless ****** so i can see why fans might want to distance themselves. as for singing songs and all the usual pish i dont like it but as soon as you get into banning songs etc you're on dodgy ground, still think fans regulating themselves is the only real way forward. just think politics and football (or rather just large opposing crowds) dont go well together, it does make for a good derby though
I agree completely if you are singing those songs before a game at a private event. But what the **** does Irish Nationalism or British Loyalism have to do with a sport? This type of thing gives creedance and an excuse for morons and neds to act like ****s. I wasn't pulling up some Irish guy who had been involved this in any way. He was just a bigot from Scotland. It's just an embarassment. I uderstand that there is a history to be considered but the fact of the matter is that it still is irrelevant to football. That statement say it all. Celtic has **** ALL to do with the IRA. Something else I'd like to point out is that I come from a heavily Irish Catholic background on both sides of my family. I've been going to Celtic games since I was 8 and it was the old Celtic Park. I went to games at Hampden when we were there. I was at the opening of the new stadium. I've travelled thousands of miles, spent thousands of pounds. Been to well over 100 games. Never once have I felt the need to equate my love for my team with any kind of politics.
Same with Rangers though Girvan. Even the RST refused to denounce the "Famine Song" as racist. The problem as you said is that as long as these clowns spend the money then the clubs will pander to them. In my opinion, Celtic and its fans should be allowed to show their pride in Irish heritage as they were founded by an Irishman. Rangers and its fans should not be stopped from being proudly British. These things are essential to the sport and its passion. Religious and political hatred however is just an excuse for bad bastards to make money off the gullible and weak-willed. Those who have never had a passion or cause of their own so are easily led by those with a strong voice and stories of an enemy. It has been happening since time immemorial.
Never said anything of the sort. Just pointing out that both clubs are culpable. Your post was deliberately aimed at getting people's goat. Unfortunately for you, the fact that I'm not that stupid precludes me from falling for it. You see Girvan this isn't 606 it's Not606. You don't have a readily available source of bigots and morons to fall for your frankly weak wummery. Try again or wait 15 mins and toddle over to 606 and aim for more realistic targets than me.
Aye, I did and then some fanny on the beach who has handed in his notice and has nothing to lose pretty much said at the last minute I was wrong. Spent half an hour this morning on ANOTHER conference call. I think that the don't believe me because I'm only 25 and he's in his 40's so in his head he's getting told he's a **** by a "Whippersnapper" Not my fault he's a spastic who doesn't understand that I'm not offering an opinion to him but definitive proof using data.
from a business point of view its not in the clubs interest to do anything about it as you know these guys will buy their season tickets every year, go to every away came, every cup game etc. its not pleasant but its the game of the people, and the people are ****s.
columbo never had a single case that made it to trial. "where's the vital evidence Lt?" "erm, somewhere in this coat, lemme see, lemme see......"
I understand that football is not the place for politics but it invariably seeps into it's very core, it's the reason why England vs Germany games are so hyped up, it's the reason why Barca and R.Madrid fans hate each. In the likes of Germany St Pauli are the socialist team in Hamburg while Hamburg F.C. have been known to have a large facist support. I know that a lot of Celtic supporters have no interest in Irish politics, I know a few Celtic supporters who are stoutly pro Union and have served in the British forces. I know one particular **** head who served in the Para's, actually served in NI but yet still sings provo songs during the matches. Really I'm sick of hearing people criticise Celtic fan's for singing songs which I think they should be free to sing if they want to. Some people may not like the songs but I don't particularly like British nationalistic / Imperical songs yet I understand people's right to sing such songs - while Irish fans are made to feel as if they should be somewhat ashamed of their own country's military history and only sing songs which are only slightly 'rebellish' such as the Fields of Athenry while avoiding other songs which are about the exact same subject line but less subtle in their method of delivery. I think people's motivation for the criticism is to make a stand against sectarianism and the mindless thug element - but in making that criticism they are grouping the whole Irish nationalist section of our support into one mindless sectarian thug section when only a small minority belong there.
Mick - I don't disagree with people's right to express political attitudes. But singing songs about guns and bombs has no place in modern football. Some people need to move away from associating sport and politics. I really couldn't care less if it happens elsewhere. It reflects badly on my club; Celtic and my country; Scotland
totally agree with you mick, i think it comes about though because the thug section far out numbers the section that are informed on the issues, have ties and are not just doing it because they think its a laugh or feel it counters their rivals bullshit. how many guys to we know that are 90 minute republican/loyalists? it'll be the same with the clubs you listed, most english people wont give a **** about ww2 but stick them and germany in a semi final and its D-Day all over again
