I do not agree with the sale of Bale at any price, but I am now 95% convinced that he is going. It is same old Tottenham, broken promises and bending over for any vulgar clubs that come along and tap up our best players.

We have seen it all before and no doubt we will see it again, every time we get close to having a team capable of challenging our best players and difference makers are torn away.

Sure we will no doubt receive a handsome amount of money, but some players are simply irreplaceable. There is no guarantee that any new signings we bring in will be a success unless they are already proven in the PL. Bale is a proven PL performer, can virtually win games on his own and make the difference in close games, 6 or 7 new signings could take half a season to fully bed in, by which time we could be off the pace.

Maybe I am too pessimistic, but selling Bale will slash me off.

Not a dig at you matey <ok>

But what you notice there is that's 3 players approaching "world class" if we can add Soldado to that, and Bale if we keep him, or a couple players we get with Bale money then we are looking at, for the first time, potentially having numerous world class players at the club, it is THEN that we will see more players want to stay, and more players want to come.

^ Longest sentence ever, I think a someone training to be a teacher I should know not to use that many comma's in one sentence.

Notice how all my rep went? Gave Piskie negative rep for being a twat and he "returned the favour" <whistle> Think I'm seeing how this rep business works now ;)

LOL, you say that, but it read well enough. I won't mock you for commas, I'm literally the worst on this forum. My grammar is horrific.

Yeah, the rep system has a lot of flaws unfortunately. As you've probably seen mentioned on here before, there are threads on the boards of other clubs which have been set up to give one another rep. They just rep and rep and rep. No decent comments needed, just rep. and rep. and rep. LOL

what happens, is when someone reps you positively, you get 1% of their total rep. so if I was to rep you, I'd pass you 1200, whilst retaining all that I currently have. However someone with a big rep who neg reps you, will make you turn red pretty much instantly, unless you have a massive rep power yourself.

Piskie's rep is pretty big, so it's no wonder you've taken a beating. As soon as I'm out of rep jail and can give you some, I will. But i doubt it'll make much difference.... and i think i gave you some pretty recently.

Still it could be worse. Hiag's is usually red and every so often it gets charged up and goes green, but within minutes it's red again! It's like they do it on purpose! <laugh>

I mildly regret that post, because it doesn't add anything to the discussion, and was liable to generate more heat than light. I'd rather say, let's agree to disagree.

Am I the only one who thinks that we are the architects of our own problems? For years we have bought players likely to have a sell on value and when someone comes in to buy them we get upset.

Am I also the only one to think that we should bite Madrid's hand off for 80 odd million, it means that we can invest in new players without falling foul of any financial fair play aggro plus, I remember the days when Bale wasn't that good. Form can often be temporary. Bale has had his back problems, ankle problems whilst his strength is in his pace. One or two injuries and that pace could be gone. The sooner we get Madrid's money the better. We've improved since losing Berbatov, we got our record number of points after getting shot of Rat Boy and we will go from strength to strength by investing in a proper squad.

I'm looking forward to the new season.

The whole Bale situation is win-win for us at this stage, I'm not sure why everyone's getting so riled by it. We either have one of the world's best players of we have a substantial sum of money to put towards the stadium.

In principle what you are saying is true, but it is a bad precedent to become a selling club, one which we are known to be atm just like Arsenal.

I have noticed that we were rumoured to be spending 50m this window and so have have spent it exactly. They must really rate this new guy that we are rumoured to be getting or the rumours of caulker wanting to go back to wales to see his baby must have been true.

Big shame to have lost him, but this new guy does actually look like he bosses the whole bloody pitch.

What does being a selling club actually mean? All clubs sell players there are extremely few who are at the top of the food chain that only do on their terms. Apart maybe from Real Madrid, Barcalona, Man U, Bayern and the clubs who currently have a mega rich benefactor like Chelsea, Man City, PSG, Monaco the vast majority are always preyed upon by those above them.

Spurs if anything are a trading club who buy and sell to good effect.
