It's the type of signing that would suggest they are preparing for Suarez to move on. Diego Costa will want to be first choice if he is moving from Atletico to 'Pool and the only reason Sturridge is at 'Pool is to get first team football as he couldn't get it at a better club. I can't see either of these 2 being happy as a predominanatly bench option, although i suppose there are ways of making it work, it does signal preperation incase Suarez does go.

It's perfectly on topic to comment on Liverpool bringing in a fairly big name striker when this thread is about whether Arsenal will sign one of Liverpools big name strikers.

Also with Wengers comments that we are still in for Suarez and trying to make something happen, this signing looks even more like it is a Suarez replacement.

On this occasion Batmoanu has a point and its valid. He is saying that Liverpool were unlikely to be signing Costa if they were not selling Suarez. Agree with him or not, it is on topic.

This is one of the reasons I get so crazy about Arsenal fans demanding a Giroud replacement. I don't care how unlikely it is that he comes good next year, there IS still a chance he will. If we sign a 50M star that can only play up top, then that is 50M wasted on a back-up. I still don't know how we are going to accommodate Walcott, Wilshere, Cazorla, Podolski, and some superstar striker in the line-up, even if Giroud is a bust.

The season is long, there will be injuries, fatigue and bans from cards to deal with - there is DEFINATELY room for anotehr striker in oru squad without having to upset any of our forward players.

Maybe but Drogba came from exactly the same point as Sanogo has. If this guy was English and had scored 4 in the U20s Championships, and we had signed him on a free, everyone would be hailing it as the signing of the decade.

He has however slipped in with derision and is being completely ignored.

He's an U20s striker and unless he is one of a small handful who are ready for the EPL at that age then he will take some time to bed in over the next season or so. I highly doubt that Sanogo on a free was Arsenals answer to needing more striking depth, especially considering the 40m bid for Suarez.

If gervinho and Chamakh are out then we will need another striker. Simples.

Suarez, Giroud, Podolski and Sanogo, (Akpom?) would make me happy.

Suarez in would make me happy about the central position and provided we replace Gervinho if he goes that will make me happy with the front line.

He's very far from being excellent. Decent player though.

He is class Dubbed, he is like a powerful version of Eduardo. Wanted us to sign him in January.

As for Sanogo, I am pretty sure he will go on loan, he seems like a very good prospect that needs to be playing regularly so I don't see him staying at Arsenal this season. I imagine he will feature at the Emirates Cup as there may be scouts there to watch him.

It's hard to believe Liverpool are after a guy who can actually play football very well.

The most recent Wenger comments that we are still in for Suarez give me confidence something could still happen. It suggests to me that we are either going to put in an improved bid or the club still have hope that something will be sorted to do with the clause.

Suarez to be in by next week, fellaini/bender to follow by the end of the transfer window, with a bonus Wenger unknown defender or LWF (if gervinho leaves) or both?

    Heard it here first :p
