I like Evans, he's a tidy little player, can definitely develop into a good midfielder. He's a bit of a jack of all trades master of none, his passing and ideas with the ball are probably his only real down side, but once he gets it drilled into his head to keep it short and simple he will be a lot better just from that.

750k is a fair price at the minute but as another said I hope we have a sell on clause because he's still young and could command a decent fee in the future.

Apparently he was the higher rated of the pair of Evans brothers at old Trafford. It's also worth noting he was a centre half til he moved here and we made him a midfielder.

Good, tidy player is Evans. It'd be disappointing to lose him, but if we get 2 quality CM's in, I'm not complaining.

Inconsistent but brilliant on his day , his performance against Leeds probably the best individual performance of the season , but those days where too and far between , not devestated if he goes but there's plenty I'd rather see go before him

was hoping we brought in another attacking midfielder but looks like we are in real need of 2 hard working mids now.

If we're confident in letting 2 midfielders go then I would imagine new arrivals in midfield could be imminent. As for Evans, good player on his day but just a tad inconsistent.

I thought Evans had great potential when he first arrived but just hasn't quite developed as well as I thought. However he is playing the thankless defensive midfield role and I still think he's a decent enough Championship player.

Evans has signed with Blackburn on a 3 year deal (fee believed between £750k-£1M - possible add-ons). Sorry to see him go because he was a very enthusiastic, talented player who always gave his all. Sometimes fell a bit short of expectation and his strength let him down at times but a very talented player nonetheless.

Cairney needs a loan spell and hopefully this will do him some good and get him playing in a more attack-minded way as opposed to his "keep-possession" mentality. I've always said I'd like to see Cairney be a bit more ambitious with his passes, and this spell at Blackburn (who should be quite strong this Season) should do him the World of good.

750k is a bloody brilliant piece of business. Nowt against the boy, he just aint worth that and isnt Premier League standard at present.

Im surprised by some of the words Im seeing on this thread relating to his ability - brilliant? Best individual performance of the season....?

Best would probably be Leeds at home.

Good business for City. Thought he deserved a crack at the EPL but I trust Bruce's judgement and you can not be sentimental in this division.

Could have become much more but wasn't to be, good luck to the lad

At £750k it must put him in the top 10 sales ever for us. Says a lot about our history really

edit
Equal 5th I think with Andy Payton

I wonder how this happened? Did they enquire about Tom and we offered them Cory? Or was it vice versa? I cant see them asking for both initially, if that makes sense.

I can't believe people being so critical of Evans. I thought he was a decent player. He didn't really have stand out attribute, but was decent at everything.

He was a decent player although a little raw still. A few mistakes near the end of season. A bit odd to see him go but good luck to him.

Probably just got our money back.

Both different types of players though. Cairney is a more attacking, passing-mentality player whereas Evans is a box-to-box grafter. I could see them wanting both for different jobs.
