They both compliment one another - I think you need to have both in order to see the best out of them.
I've only seen him once. But he's one of Atleticos main men so can't be all bad. He's only 1m more than Downing, and offers more. I hope we get him, but not if it's as Suarez replacement.
Some of these helped too... Loved Mascherano as a player, was alot more consistent over the years than Alonso for us, if only we'd got Tevez from Wham at the same time.
Great compilation - gave us such energy and intensity in the middle, something that is clearly lacking at the moment. And to think - Pardew hardly played Masch ...
Been saying for many years that the amount of money thrown about in football is insane. (Whatever happened to the world-wide recession?) It'll only get worse as far as I can see until it ends in disaster. For the immediate future, all it means is that the gap between rich clubs and the rest can only get bigger as "poorer" clubs just can't compete. Even the traditionally big clubs have little chance against the mega rich clubs sustained by money which has nothing to do with the game. FFP is intended to address that problem but I'm not holding my breath.
Can you remember the uproar when you guys paid £6m to Newcastle for a 31 year old Les Ferdinand? Same with the 30 year old David Ginola for £2.5m
Which is why I've been quite happy about the way we've gone about it. As well as the fact that I don't think big names are necessarily the only way to success on the field. I do hope that FFP has the desired effect and gives the big spenders a kicking, but I just don't have confidence in the will of the authorities against the powerful money men.
Love how on a lot of his defensive challenges/intercepts our other players around the action are like '**** storm, **** storm, **** storm, **** storm...Oh, Maschas dealt with it again!' Awesome player, dynamic, controlled agression, powerful and committed.
i know what you guys are saying... its primal and enjoyable as a male to see our side smash u ptheir side. however how many red cards in his last year and how many matches missed.....
FootballFacts101‏@FootballFact1013m Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has revealed that the club are planning to sign one more player before the end of the transfer window. Agger? Luiz? Silva? Gotta be a defender.
Anyone watch the audi cup? NEgredo looks sharp and stron on the ball, well suited for the prem, looks a good signing. Also, Tevez and Llorente are going to **** up many a defense in the Serie A.
13:33 BST: An update now on Bafetimbi Gomis... FootMercato has quoted Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas as saying: "We accepted the proposal of Newcastle, to transfer up to 8 million euros, plus a 2 million bonus. The club has accepted the wage claims of the player. The agreement is now linked to the acceptance of agent fees." Are the Magpies about to break their transfer duck?
12:45 BST: Lyon's Michel Bastos has agreed to join United Arab Emirates outfit Al-Ain, according to Sky Sports. Bastos had been on loan at Schalke since January, but the German club's general manager, Horst Heldt, revealed they had little say in the player's future. "Michel Bastos is leaving our club with immediate effect," he told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung. Thought we should have gone for him as he went for so cheap to Schalke. Again though, player after that final payday it seems.
I say I miss Masc more because Gerrard can do the Alonso stuff and more. We dont have a midfield ninja any more.
