Hi All - Just a quick one - I'm looking to buy a Gibson Les Paul for under £1000 (cash) - Wonder if any muso's on here have any idea of anywhere I may bhe able to buy one? Ideally want a LP Standard. Thanks

I usually buy off ebay but drive whatever distance to pick the guitar up myself so I can check it was described correctly and the seller cannot blame the postage if something is wrong. I recently bought a guitar while on tour in the US and prices over there seem a lot lower even when you take into account the lower tax rate. Some airlines like United will let ypu carry a guitar in the cabin in a soft case. My advice have a holiday and buy a guitar at the same time. I will ask the musos I know if any of them are selling a les paul.
You do know how heavy they are don't you. I got the LP standard, SG standard and ES175 and on a full nights playing you'll notice the weight. Guitars bought in the USA are really much cheaper but beware getting done for import tax. I bought a lap steel Fender (from e bay) and had to pay £50 when it arrived (import duty) otherwise they would have returned it to sender.

they are epihones mate not proper gibbos i have a epiphone goldtop but sadly not the 56 model still lovely guitars but not a patch on the real thing

when you think about it....it is still pretty cheap for a bollock im not saying i wouldnt regret the decision but id probably get caught up in the spur of the moment and see self mutilation as quicker than saving up
Maybe you shouldn't commit to your left one? You could get them both tested and keep the best bollock?
i think the main thing is how it would efect my balance i dont want to start walking in circles all the time...or is that your ears? either way im a man of impulse i said the left one and so it shall be!
Aye definitely will do Bri - Already have a 50th Anniversary deluxe USA Fender Strat which is a lovely guitar - but I've always been a les paul man and we've just come into a couple of thousand so split it with the wife and said I'm using my half for a guitar - she's probably going to spend hers on the kids or some ****e - daft arse!!! I'll put pics of all of them on here when I get the Les Paul (and, mark my words, I will get it!!)
