have never won the league since before the 2nd world war. Therefore, would posters willing to see the home shirt changed from its traditional stripes to a different home shirt. Remember that the traditional stripes are not that traditional as Sunderland's first strip was all blue.
Not on any level whatsoever mate. I love Ellis, but I would instantly despise him if he even contemplated changing our kit. Stripes may not have won in England, but I draw your attention to Juve, (occasionally)Bayern & Barca, FC Porto, Inter, Milan.....
Just because the first strip was blue doesn't mean our stripes aren't traditional. And if you really think changing our club colours will win us silverware then that explains your complete lack of input on any football related threads that hasn't been started by yourself.
And they won't for the next fifty years thanks to the champions league make a very dominant top 5, giving them all the money and pull for players. IMO get rid of the champions league and bring back the three old European competitions.
Historically Liverpool always had white shorts and Bill Shankly changed them to red as he said it was more imposing on the opposition. And look what happened.
Yes I remember someone saying that and he saw a football team as being the embodiment of socialism, hence the change to all red. PS All red shirts do tend to win the league most often.
http://www.liverpoolfc.com/history/timeline/1944-1969/reds-sport-all-red-kit-for-first-time 25 November 1964 In November 1964, Bill Shankly had a brainwave: to send his team out in all red. In doing away with white socks and trim, Shanks thought his team would be more intimidating. He was right. Writing about the change in his autobiography, striking legend Ian St John recalled: "Shankly thought the colour scheme would carry psychological impact - red for danger, red for power. "He came into the dressing room one day and threw a pair of red shorts to Ronnie Yeats. 'Get into those shorts and let's see how you look,' he said. 'Christ, Ronnie, you look awesome, terrifying. You look 7ft tall.'" Nowt to do with Socialism. More the fact that it made the players look bigger.
Cardiff changed to red a year ago and they got promoted, Chelsea with white socks looks daft to me. Could our top just have 3 big stripes red, white, red ?, and when did a team playing in black and white last win anything ! probably WBA in the 1960's. And talking of Liverpool, Shanks trained them harder than Di canio in the 1970's, the players said it was easy playing 90 mins compared to the training.
Teams with "Manchester" in their name tend to do well. Perhaps we should add that. Or perhaps hope that the new Sunderland flair will set some new stripey silverware style.
