If we are after CMS now (speculating quite a lot here), does anyone feel that spending around 9 Million on strikers giving us 5 potential first team players, is too much in one area. Sure, the 3 have passion, hunger and a high work rate, but in the premier league its about not conceding. I feel that we need to buy at least 2 more centre backs with certain resilience and leadership qualities. It was clear in the championship that we conceded cheaply. Whenever I see a championship game pundits are always illustrating the lack of quality and organisation in defence. We need bold centre backs who can deal with world class attacks. I also feel a new keeper is needed (Hahneman perhaps). I don't feel I trust Ruddy. I'm always on edge whenever he becomes involved. I've heard about his performances away being better than at home. I say give him a chance but get someone in for competition. I feel the midfield is our strongest area. Liable somewhat to losing possession cheaply and setting up a counter is my only criticism. This however is true of any team and a measure of this is how often a midfield lets this happen. Therefore i feel we need one more player who can play the fox role and provide competition for the deep lying playmaker role. Perhaps a Gibson. I feel that creatively the midfield is fine. My only worry is an injury to Hoolahan. Therefore a player such as Dorrans could be needed, once again for competition and extra creativity. Thoughts?
We desperately need cover at right back. If Martin gets injured we're up a well known creek without a paddle
Ofcourse completely forgot right back. We've depended on martin's fitness far too much. Flanagan on loan would be my first choice if liverpool replace him with a more world class right back. Also I forgot Pacheco on loan which would be feasible. That could also cover Hoolahan and provide that extra creativity if needed.
I would like McGugan for competition with Hoolahan. Would also like Westwood in nets next season. Regarding defence, wouldn't mind Gabbidon from WH or a miracle of Dann or Johnson from Brum ;-). Fergie also quoted earlier in the season as saying he may loan out J.Evans to get his confidence and swagger back - would be an ideal loan signing if possible.
I think Lambert is on the money that goals is what we need. Birmingham went down this season because of not enough decent strikers. West Ham only had Ba who was any good. Blackpool nearly stayed up with DJ Campbell and lots of other goals. West Brom were comfortable with lots of goals. I think CB and holding midfielder is next most important - that's why Blackburn went down and Wolves just managed to stay up.
