A front 3 of Costa-Sturridge-Suarez would be better, with Coutinho behind. Not forgetting Allen left at home and downing at his level, say Torquay. That would be a great team.

Bring in another CB and CM an we're laughing. Doubt we'll bring in another midfield mind but Gerrard and Lucas are fine, just need a bit of quality as back up. Plenty of options upfront if we pull this signing off, with or without Suarez. Next season screams goals to me. <ok>

I agree although I suspect the Fair Play award will be out the window <laugh>

  7. It'll be interesting how people react if we get our (reported) targets, a core of Papa, Suarez and Costa will see us kicking a lot of teams and considering how much moaning people do about teams such as Stoke...

I've had enough of what the media think. We need some steel - preferably in the middle of the park as well but Papa and Costa will definitely fight for the cause and bring some much needed passion. As spirited as Suarez and someone like Borini are, they're not physically intimidating.

Time to ruffle some feathers and stop being bullied.

One more point - Costa is reportedly on £15k a week ...

  12. Oh, I wasn't saying we shouldn't get them, I agree we need more fight and team spirit etc, especially towards the end of the game #mentaltoughness

Just think it will be amusing to watch how those that moan about Stoke react if we take this approach (obviously, we would be technically better and not kick as much)

Considering Stoke's primary style is to bully and intimidate, whereas ours is to attack and score goals - I don't think there are any similarities. By having physical players in our team, it allows us to compete and fight back.

  14. I'm pretty sure that in their list of approaches, bullying and intimidation won't be the primary aspect. It'll be fairly high up but its an addition rather than the structure IMO

Oh wow, really? No doubt we'll give him a pay -rise but if we put him on 40-60k then that'd be good business

In Mourhinos first spell in charge at Chelsea he had some pretty intimidating characters in Terry,Essien,Mackalale,Drogba who would all lay it on the line and win whatever it took. In fact over the years all successful teams have that type of player in their squad. Even barca have mascherano ,puyol, busquets.
United in the Roy Keane era. Etc etc. Liverpool with souness,McMahon
I don't believe, apart fom Gerrard we have that and Gerrard has mellowed somewhat over the years. We need this type who will come in and bully/ intimidate opposition (within the letter of the law of course)
Bring thing in and we won't ,hopefully, fall over at places like stoke.

Thanks. Also Emlyn would have laid his life down for the cause, in fact over the years we have always had at least one player like that. I don't see it,at the moment, in this team. Not saying they aren't passionate just not in their makeup.

    Exactly.

Just because we are potentially signing a couple of nutcases doesn't turn us into Stoke. We will still play football with an attacking style but with more bite and steel - we saw how Barca were bullied by Bayern in the CL <ok>

There will be times when our clever players will struggle in a match - Coutinho, Sureaz etc. Sometimes we will need to force the issue - Costa and Papa have the ability to attack crosses and are good headers of the ball. Adds another dimension to our game.

  20. I think if he can get over his injury troubles, Lucas fits into that category. He won't necessarily bully someone but he certainly harasses them, ask Yaya!
